I would also like to add, im also eyeing another bag that is only avail at NM right now. So I figured I would hold off on that purchase for a little bit. But now I may have to make that purchase now too, if the prices are really going to go up soon!

yes, I made that purchase to get the triple points, so im good there. But in all reality I wanted to take my time with both of my purchases from NM and Saks based on the new refurb/repair policy. But based on the price factor, I feel like I have to buy now. I think I may hold onto the Saks purchase for a few weeks to see if any official word comes out on refurb plcy. If it is not good I will return the bag. And if I do get official word on a looming price increase on the bag I want from NM I will just do the same thing. Purchase and then return if the repair plcy is not good.

Both price/repair policy has created issues for lots of folks. Again takes the joy out of shopping Chanel!

The new policies are official and are already effective since Oct 1. Tpf owner has already asked Chanel about the details and posted on tpf.

And im not sure about bags flying off shelves....the SA's seem to be getting nicer, some pushier just to make the sale. I also recall a convo with my NM SA whom stated once the bags go online for sale next month it will be more difficult for the SA's to make a nice commission....Time will tell, thats for sure.

If classic flaps go on sale online, they would probably be marked as "sold out" or "unavailable" most of the time since Chanel says that it is limiting production of its classic flaps. lol. Limiting supply and increasing distribution channels just doesn't go hand in hand logically.

I didn't have the budget then, but I hoped that I had gotten more back in 2009 - I got 2 maxis and a 226 that one year, when maxis were going for $2890, which is less than a price of the mini.

It was also easier (pre-2011), to find a classic flap. Even the resellers had new or almost new flaps at reasonable prices, not marked up like they are now. But I do like the caviar from the 2015 and 2016 seasons. The caviar from 2009 and 2010 sometimes were very matte and not puffy.

Then, again, my salary increased significantly since then, so I guess this makes up for it.

Hello jenniferx430, did you have them mail you a gift card or are you awaiting your points to be added to your account? I too was going to wait for them to send my year end card to me next year but opted to have them e-mail it to me. I was able to receive it within seconds of doing so online. Ask your SA if it possible to adjust the order when you eventually receive your gift card. Hope this helps.

Like Valentine said...when Saks published their 16C list it showed a price increase for mini

And nope my SA didn't know about boy WOCs decrease until she saw the tags.

Mini is seasonal

And I do think Chanel benchmark prices on the market


Valentino flaps are going around $1800 to $2400 (same size as minis...I was shocked when I saw the prices also!!)

I do think the price increase/decrease are for various reasons from the lux brands in the same category and also from popularity of these items.

As long as demand is good and competitors are raising prices then Chanel will follow through.


Let's say Chanel didn't increase the price and Chanel WOCs stayed at around $1200 from a few years ago. Well...that means Chanel WOCs would be competing against Fendi and Prada while Chanel can't even keep classic WOCs in stock at current prices!! And their flaps at around $3000 to low $4000 will be competing against not Hermes but would be lower than Lady Dior!! I'm not saying I'm happy to see price increase but if the whole market segment is moving that direction then Chanel will go with that!

My SA mentioned they used to get the info on increases well in advance, but that is no longer the case. She said they now normally find out about a week prior to the increase. I think it would be great if we all kept digging and maybe everyone should actually ask there SA how much notice do you get prior to the increase happening?

It seems the answers we are getting differ slightly so maybe this approach will help us.

@calflu- Did your SA let you know that the price on the mini was going to be marked up prior to it happening? Or did you just find out while browsing bags?
