Whomever else got a So Black Mini Reissue from this collection, can you check your chain and see if yours has the same issue of so black color not covering all of the links, and the gaping of any of your links (this was the largest gap)? After all I've gone through to get this bag, this is so sad for me. View attachment 5144515View attachment 5144516
Seriously Chanel? For how much we’re paying for these bags :frown:

After seeing your post, I checked mine and it had the same issue! It maybe due to that certain part of the chain links rubbing together? A bit bummed about it but you can’t see it unless you hold the chain at a specific angle. What are you going to do?

Not happy that yours is like that too, but glad to know it's not just me---thank you for checking yours. I am still not 100% on what I will do. Only because in addition to this, my bag is asymmetric: it appears that either one side has a larger leather panel than the other side, or the corner where the two panels are stitched together was sewn askew (I'll insert a picture to illustrate what I mean)----is yours like this too? I REALLY love this specific style and size so much, that's why I'm struggling with what to do. I know once I give it up, that'll be it. And although it will probably be released again, it will for sure be after price hike (s). (Please excuse the little piece of tissue I used to mark the "bald" link.)

Oh dear, just when I'm contemplating on getting a so black mini CF. Do you think the same will happen to CF's hardwares?
Sorry to scare you. It's hard to say, because the Reissue style chain is very intricate with multiple links, versus the CF chain whose link has just one connection to the link in front and the link behind it, plus the leather piece woven in between. If anything, I would think the leather piece will completely cover any "bald" spots.

Chanel has been doing this for a while with so Black pieces. I have owned black hardware ranging from 2015-2020 and from what I recall they switched things up for 20A. The reason they don’t cover the middle part anymore is that this is where most abrasion/chipping happened in the past. Removing the layer from where the links rub against each other will decrease the risk of chipping.

I understand what you mean. But that does put a dent in my confidence in Chanel quality (which is not so great already).

Anyway I'll think about it, thanks!

Thanks for sharing that. I see what you're saying, and that makes sense in terms of chipping prevention. What struck me about the one I have is the center vertical link (the one with the etching) has enough of the silver-colored metal missing the black color that it does stand out. While I didn't check each and every link up close, I did compare it to the same type of links in close proximity, and the rest were well-covered in black. That, plus the one side of the bag sticking out as mentioned above.

Did you mean the side panel sticking out? I see this happening in minis quite a bit (both the classic and reissue styles). Mine looks OK but I find that it tends to happen after I overstuff my bag a bit too much. I have no idea if that’s the reason though. But after I let the bag rest for a few days, it turns back to normal shape. I know these issues are a bit heartbreaking after the trouble we’ve gone through to acquire this beauty. I’m keeping mine because I love using it way too much!
