I have Valentino rockstud tote, Chanel GST and Chanel Jumbo flap.... If you consider value in a long run, of course you should buy Chanel. Because Chanel holds the value much better than Valentino, and Chanel classic bags never go on sale, but Valentino does....

For being a work bag, I will prefer tote than flap bag, because it is more functional...

I have owned both and I love them both for different reasons. But I will say the maxi us a better "forever" everyday bag. Plus it closes securely with the flap while V bags do not.

I only have the rock stud tote so I am totally bias... Just want to share that I really loved it:
- it gives a great classic/edgy vibe to any outfit
- perfect style and size for day to night
- spacious and stylish at the same time

Of course Chanel resale value is better, but do you purchase with intention to resale or to use it as much as possible?

Well, go with your heart...

Chanel will hold its value over time and their bags keep going up in price so I would go for the chanel now. If you ever get bored of it, you can always sell it and get another brand. In full disclosure, I love chanel handbags.
