I was under the impression that you could no longer claim VAT on purchases in England - or perhaps I misunderstood? crossing my fingers I misunderstood!

One cannot claim VAT at airports now. This is shipped out directly by the store (export) and I know Hermes said it’s allowed as well. Please let me clarify that shipping is approved on a case by case basis by the store managers, for both brands. I was told this very clearly as well.

Anyone has a nice SA in London will be able to help me reserve the “My perfect” caviar in light pink/blue. I have been searching for it and contacted some SAs already but most of them claiming the waiting list is very long/not responding me. One SA is nice and said that he would look out for me, but then last week I sent two messages asking for the update, he still hasn’t replied me so I don’t know if he is actually taking me serious

Sorry to interrupt but I’d be interested to know what bag you’re after? In my somewhat limited experience with Chanel, I don’t think it’s as difficult to get a classic bag in UK compared to USA. I don’t have a regular SA and I’ve been able to buy what I wanted. Though it does seem that it’s getting more and more competitive for coveted seasonal pieces. Excited for your Chanel journey!

I’ve always wanted a black lambskin classic double flap in small.. but from what I’ve heard about the quality decline along with the huge price increase I think I’ve decided to get a vintage classic which has 24k hardware… since I’m also vintage myself I thought it would be nice! But on my actual birthday i want to get a seasonal piece in the boutique that I can look back on and remember that season from my 30th.. I’m not totally decided i think the 22c may be released in November and I like the look of that pink velvet one from that show.. thank you I’m very excited!

I had many years ago a vintage classic flap with the 24K hardware it was a nice bag but it’s extremely heavy and it made it really uncomfortable to wear on the shoulder it did leave a few marks on my shoulder and I decided to sell it I personally much prefer the newer style Classics

Oh that's good to know - I'm always going through the app lusting after different pieces so it's good to know there are more in the boutiques - sometimes I'm too afraid to just browse in there if I'm not going to buy anything. Do you have any tips trying to get a seasonal bag? Not sure if that 22c pink velvet will be hard to get or not!

Are you able to (easily) visit a store to have a look at the bags and have a chat with the SAs? I’m afraid I can’t give much helpful advice on chasing a seasonal bag... I’ve so far been lucky and they’ve had what I wanted when I went in. However I was sort of interested in the current season My Perfect caviar mini - was waaaay late and only wandered into the boutique last week. They offered to put me on a waiting list but of course it’s super unlikely I’ll ever get one. But you could strike up a conversation with an SA and ask if they can tell you when the velvet bag will be available or to put you on a waiting list? Maybe someone else here can also chime in because perhaps I’m naive but have never had the issues that people in the US seem to have in getting bags! Or you could of course see something else you like in store whilst you’re there! And definitely don’t be shy to browse! I would go in with a vague idea of what you might like to look at (eg small crossbody bags or pink bags) as the SA will be accompanying you and lots of bags aren’t even on display so then they can get stuff for you to look at! Enjoy shopping!!

It’s definitely the hardware that makes it a lot heavier I didn’t keep mine only because the one I had was a bit too old and as I said it was really heavy on the shoulder and it wasn’t comfortable at all and that was with the bag not have anything in it.
I think if you really love the bag then maybe go for it

I visited multiple boutiques last week (NBS, harrods, Sloane) and stock levels were quite bad. NBS told me they didn't even have a black classic flap available when I was there. Aside from that all I was offered was classics or minis in tweeds from much older seasons. Nothing in Caviar for classics and no leather minis at all.
