My husband bought for me last week for my birthday. I love this bag. It makes my heart skip a beat. However I’m an avid mini bag user, I have a lot of mini bags and I am actually leaning towards getting another mini bag but when I saw the Chanel deauville I was like woah I need this is my life. I almost wanted to get the LV a never full since I do not have any big bags to carry around when I need to.

What you all think of this bag? Should I exchange for mini bags? Or should I keep it as my first big tote bag? I am so confused. I don’t want to regret later one as this is not cheap and I want a bag that can last me for a long time.

this is not my first Chanel. My first Chanel is mini square and I love it to death. Haha!

thank you in advance ☺️

Funny you should post this...I just purchased the same exact bag! I love the sparkly threads. It’s very beautiful. I too mostly use smaller bags or my Goyard tote that’s quite small so I’ve been trying to decide whether to keep as well. Its such a lovely bag and a different style than everything else I have. I do know larger bags are coming back into trend/favor (not that it is a huge consideration). I’m just trying to decide if it’s too bulky for me but I’m worried I’d regret not keeping it since it’s so stunning in person. LMK what you decide to do!

Question is, when do you need a big bag to carry around and what would you use when you need one?

I would personally exchange it for a mini that you would like.
The Deauville is pretty but it’ll be a hassle to clean later. It’ll stain easily and these kind of bags is one of those where you shouldnt have to care too much where you place it but its difficult to even do that when the color is so light.

Whatever you choose to decide to do, make sure its a bag that you will use for sure and not have to baby too much.

OMG. Such a coincidence. It is such a beautiful bag I must say. I love it upon looking at it. Anyway I sure will. I have been looking at the latest collection and drooling of exchanging or I duno if I should make a plunge on the Classic bag, I never wanted the classic bag because I feel that everyone has one and I kind of prefer the mini bag one anytime. haha! I duno. I am so skeptical about it. Also I am not sure. It is a half half thoughts. :( I will update if I plan to keep it ok!

Thank you for your kind thoughts. I understand the color is light, I love it actually, although i may need to be extra careful with it. I'm partly just afraid with the style a lil bit. But I sincerely love it so much! hahah. I'm going to the boutiques tomorrow to see one more time and make the last decision. I will update!

What did you decide on? I’m thinking I’m going to return mine even though it’s quite beautiful it seems too large for me and I’ll never come close to filling it with anything on a regular day and I have a workhorse LV tote for travel already. Curious to hear your thoughts when you went back to look again.

I love the Deauville and think it fills a space that a mini bag cannot. At the beginning of the pandemic (cannot get used to that) I only used small bags to carry necessities. I thought I would overhaul my collection but Im glad I did not since I am reaching for simple totes more and more. I think the Deauville seems very easy to carry especially if not loading it up. I am deciding between Deauville and small Dior Book Tote.

Oh man, I love the Deauvilles! I have two. Both in darker colors. I'd love a light color, but am afraid of staining it.

My extra large in felted wool is very heavy and I only use it for roadtrips. I take a few roadtrips to Canada each year and this is prefect for it as it just sits in my car and looks pretty. I have large in a dark color which is much lighter in weight and I use it as a casual tote. Either for work or just around the shops when I need a shopping tote.

If you are not a 'tote person' (and you'd know if you are one), I would return it and get what you really want. As much as I love mine, doesn't mean you must love it just the same :) (it is gorgeous though)

Hi dear! I’ve decided to keep it. The Color too gorgeous to let it go. My SA told me it is hard to come by and their stock for deauville always limited for the REV series. Since I do not have a large tote. So I’ve decided to keep it and I think I have too many small bags to exchange with and I don’t fancy anything when I go there yesterday. My heart still sings for deauville tote.

Follow your heart but I feel deauville are more practical with the shoulder strap. Book tote is only hand carry which I can’t with my kids it’s beautiful though!

I have too many small/mini bags hahaha! My husband said that it is nice to have something different esp when I can only bring one bag when I go out alone with kids. Usually I would bring my mini bag and baby bag for my kids stuffs and it is rather annoying sometimes

I love my Deauville and I use it for traveling - I find it quite useful as a carryon or on weekend trips. That being said, I have a darker Deauville so I'm not quite as careful with it and my feelings towards the bag's usefulness would probably change if I had a lighter color one that I felt I would have to baby.
Thanks dear!! I was rather afraid too when I decided on the light color but I love the Color combo. It suits my clothing range since I’m always choosing neutral colors/black. Luckily mine wasn’t canvas, it is rafia/tweed, so I assume more carefree than canvas, SA told me that too
