i had a boy woc in that exact type of leather from 17b. Everything was fine and dandy until the leather did start chipping off at the edges. The process they use to create the caviar is off, it looks perfect when you buy the bag but there is no way you can keep it that way (I should know as I over baby my bags)
I have been researching different types of leather and finishes and the chipping is my greatest concern. Sorry to hear that it happened to your woc. I love the 20c grey but I think it’s not worth the risk given the cf is so expensive now.

That is also why I am going to go for a grey Gabrielle in distressed calfskin. I sold my woc, bought a lambskin mini with the money :)

So were you guys able to get your money back or have it fixed by Chanel? This is after how long of buying the bags? Thank you.

I’d say this was within 6/8 months of buying my bag. All along the edges you had tiny caviar dots tearing off. I
Didn’t bother driving to Paris for this, they would have said they couldn’t do anything for sure. Check the “quality declining” threads, you’ll see pictures

same thing happened to a grey boy woc i had within 1 or 2 wears. I took it back to saks and they exchanged it for something else. Hasn't happened to my black classic or reissue woc's.

I’ve been there. After the 2nd experience I decided not to purchase another chanel bag if they continue producing this sub-par imitation leather. None of my older chanel bags have chipped like this. Even scuffing (with hard use) is minimal with the older series. Truly disappointing.

What do you mean by chipping? Does it happen because of normal wear and tear?
It happens after your first few uses. By use I mean gentle use. The bag ends up looking like it has bald patches where leather should be. It’s almost like a plastic dye coating that’s been stamped with the caviar grain. Once the coating chips off, it looks very bad.

that sounds bad, seems the light beige is the same caviar quality as the light grey, might be better to skip these.. hm
