Hi I have developed a bit of a Chanel costume jewelry habit lately and would really like some advice from anyone who can advise me about the following.
1.How many collections are there a year?
2. How well does the jewelry hold it's value?
3. Is there anyway that you cansee the collection before it comes out and pre order it?
I have just purchase the Paris Londres set of 3 brooches- is this collection limited?

Nowadays I believe there are 4 collections (6 if you count Act I vs. Act II), and that doesn't count couture.
Spring/Summer Act I & Act II
Pre-Fall
Fall/Winter Act I & Act II
Cruise
The costume jewelry, like most other accessories, loses value unless it is a piece that is very popular (paris souveniers necklace).
The look books are available about a month before the collection arrives in stores. You need to find a good sales associate. Try Brendan Sheehan at the E. 57th Street store in NYC 212-355-5050

I think you should only buy a piece if you really love it and not for it's value. As many have already said on the forum the costume jewellery line is very overpriced so it's better to buy a piece that you will love and use, rather one that you might end up selling later because it can be hard to recoup your money.
That's true -- I wouldn't buy a piece simply with the idea that it will go up in value. Most pieces sell for a loss.
Much of it is lots of fun and very wearable, though.
The Paris London pieces will be gone (or not made anymore) with this season (though likely old stock will remain with most of the stores -- the less popular pieces, etc).

I guess I must fall in to this category, just returned from Paris and my husband bought me a Chanel brooch, that's the second one and when we were in Orlando last July he bought me a lovely sea pearl and gold tone cc necklace (short one)I have quite afew pairs of earrings and a vintage cuff and definately want a long necklace now I have seen them on the forum! Thanks to my very kind friend (nvchampagne) I own three of her cast off Chanel handbags, which I love like pets. I will be posting pics soon.
