Chanel classic flap or le boy

I vote for 1 Chanel rather than 2 other bags too; I feel like you will still be eyeing the Chanel so u may as well get it and enjoy it! And as nycmamaofone said, your little ones won't be little forever.

I think you may need to think about how you want to use this bag.
1. Size-Is this something you will be carrying with the kids or is this an evening/adults out bag?
2. Leather-Size and usage will come into play when trying to determine leather. (The larger bags are heavier in caviar vs lambskin.)
3. Heart-What does your heart say? Which bag makes you swoon and happy to see it? That is the most important question!

If you give us more info on how you plan on using your new bag and what size capacity you need, everyone here can definitely enable, ahem I mean, help you decide!

Hi thanks for your reply

I plan to use it as and when I can, I don't just want it coming out the dustbag every year or so, but then I don't want to wear it all the time.

Maybe wear it for dressier occasions and also throw it on with a pair of jeans if I'm going to the cinema or a few social drinks.

Both bags make me swoon haha

The Chanel classic flap in the jumbo size was actually my first Chanel. I bought it four years ago but I found while I love the look of it, I did not use it as much as I thought I would.

The jumbo is actually pretty heavy once I put my essentials in (wallet, keys, card holder, cell phone, lip gloss). It is also too long for me to crossbody (I’m 5’ 5”).

I purchased the boy this year in caviar. I love the style and I have used it a lot more than my jumbo. It’s lighter and fits just as much even though it looks smaller.

I think it really depends what style you’re looking for. The classic flap is more of a dressy bag while I find the boy more casual so it’s perfect for my lifestyle. Also, if you are interested in caviar, keep in mind that the classic flap has the more rigid durable caviar whereas the seasonal boys tend to have the finer grained softer caviar.

Thanks, I think that's my fear with the jumbo even though I have 2 kids I still don't carry a great deal.

I'm just frightened that the others will look and feel small on me

If I were you, I'd get one Chanel bag. You've wanted one for so long and I agree with your hubby that now is the time to treat yourself. It sounds like you deserve it [emoji106].

I have both the reissue and jumbo, but not a boy. I want one but never pulled the trigger because I felt the quality on the classic flap was better for the same price. So I purchased classic bags first with the idea that if I were to get another Chanel, it would be the Boy down the line.

I'd love to hear more about your height and bag wearing preferences. Are you tall? Short? Do you prefer to wear your bags on the shoulder or crossbody? Would you feel comfortable wearing the jumbo on casual occasions or only fancy ones? What about the Boy? Reissue? Would you feel self-conscious about wearing it?

I don't get to wear my jumbo or reissue often but I wear my reissue more because it's understated. If I had a boy I think I would wear it more because of the crossbody factor alone, but I'm also on the shorter side (5'4") so I think I could get away with wearing it crossbody. But the jumbo is not a crossbody bag, just a shoulder one.

By the way I'm also a mom so I understand your dilemma. But there are times when you want a Chanel, and your little ones won't be little forever.

Edit: I just saw that you're tall, so crossbody is out for both bags. I'd get the jumbo then. It will be more durable and better made in caviar. My jumbo is 3 years old and looks brand new.

Hi There

Thanks for your comments

Yes I'm 5.8 but with the kids I don't tend to carry much, use a never full for my momma bag .

I'd be using it if I went out alone dressy or casual so I need something that fits in with both I'm just frightened that a jumbo will be too big?

I tend to carry bags on the shoulder or crossbody depending on the bag but I hate bulky crossbody bags, I need it to sit flat and look smart if crossbody I had a speedy bandouliere 30 once and I hated the shape carried crossbody.

I'm 6ft - jumbo was too big and boxy on me (surprise!). Some folk here might disagree but i didn't feel like going out to dinners with jumbo, waaaay to big.
Boy sits very well and looks cool, you will be able to wear it cross body. Medium flap - chain too short to wear it on the shoulder (you might be fine though). Reissue is perfect but i read it's not your favourite.

I think boy is extremely cool but having said that - I bought also a so black reissue 225 as i couldn't decide which style is better  I also owned mini, jumbo and a few WOCs. Mini could be a nice one for going out (I would carry there my Iphone 6s+, chanel card holder and LV key pouch + receipts etc.) and you'd have £££ left for the LV bag. I might come back to them at some point.
I'm not sure about price increases - there is a rumour about a price increase in the US (check the Chanel Shopping threads).

Black is a great color! I have a black classic flap M/L its a great bag for evening and formal wear. I have also paired it with jeans and a tee, or just yoga pants. I do find that I will reach for my other bags though when I dress down a little. I love the Boy however when I was purchasing my first Chanel I wanted a "Classic". If you find that you want a bag more for jeans and tee I would go with the boy (personally). But if you want a bag with a little more versatility I would go with the flap. This is just my personal opinion, I find the classic flap to be a dressier bag and one that I can wear out to dinner and shopping. But I think the Boy is a little more casual. I am looking to purchase a boy to add to my collection at some point.

Hi All

I think I've done my own head in...

Right boy is out now,,,

Strangely reissue is in, I've been thinking about them a whole lot.....

Thinking about a large aged black reissue

Still got the classic flap on the brain but something says Chanel a little bit more with a reissue

What does everyone think to the large size, is it versatile????

Hello! I live in the U.K. too and recently had a baby. I have a boy bag old medium and it was my mummy bag for a few months. I love the look but the wear on the corners made me put it away. The shape of the bag means it's going to happen regardless of how careful u are with it. I have a couple of jumbos and they r awkward with baby but I'm trying to use them more. I think from what u have written a classic flap may make you happier. The prices also keep climbing.

My most useful bag though with a child has been my mini, but LV ladies usually struggle with the size as u r so used to having all that space. Goodluck with your decision Xx
