I liked the small very much, didn't feel it was crowded under the arm at all. I didn't buy it, yet, but plan to!
This is the small on me, I'm 5'2"

This reminds me of when the Gabrielle first came out, I really wanted a size between the small and medium! (And went ahead to buy the medium anyway because I wanted a bigger bag). And then some time later they came up with a "new medium". I wonder if there's some way to funnel the feedback up the chain!

I wondered about that too! But if I wait, then there’ll be price increases. With Chanel it’s always a gamble! I also kinda prefer the calfskin version from last season and have thought about waiting to see if they release it again. But, the price increases stop me lol

Are these impossible to see in person in store/try on? I don’t have a home store any longer that I shop at so no SA. But we will be traveling soon to an area with a boutique and I’m hoping to see one in person and potentially buy if I like it.

It really depends on stock availability at specific stores. For instance, i was able to try on the small at my local boutique and a large one while on vacation. I would say just walk to the boutique in your area and you might be surprised. Have a good vacation
