Chanel 2.55 IS One Of The Top Five Status Handbags - Well, According To This Article

I agree with the first 3 listed but as many other tpfers mentioned already, not #4 and 5. Hello, what about Gucci, Prada, BV, Bal, Dior, and the many other premier designers. Can't believe Coach and Kate Spade made the list. Those are so NOT status bags at all. IMHO, they are a dime a dozen and seen everywhere. So how can those be a status bag???

I can see exactly why LV is included, but I'm just saying that I, personally, dislike the monogram collection. In pretty much every fashion magazine I read, the Speedy is listed as a classic, "must have" bag, and I also recognize that people plunk down a lot of $$$$ for LV luggage/steamer trunks, etc... the history behind the brand is certainly undeniable, but it isn't (the classic monogram, anyway) my taste at all. I suppose I should have said that I dislike the classic LV monogram but understand why it's included. :p I know what you mean... I haven't really carried any of my old Gucci bags in forever! :sweatdrop: I should either start to carry them, or sell them (but two have sentimental value, so I always hesitate to part with them). :smile1:

Actually, personal opinions aside, I can see why the first three designers made the list. Whenever I go to a site specializing in very high end handbags, the first three are ALWAYS included. I have a sort of love hate relationship with Louis Vuitton - sometimes I love it, sometimes I hate it. I own a small LV collection, which I still carry from time to time -all monogram pieces. When I see someone looking stylist with LV, I get inspired and pull mine out for a few days and then it goes back until... Louis Vuitton is the only brand I do with with. I cannot tell you the last time I carried any of my Gucci. However, I love every single pair of my Gucci shoes I own.

Gee, I was blithely reading the article till I came to #4 and #5. I am pretty sure "status" in this case means "high rank or elevated social standing", and IMO Coach and Kate Spade bags - no offense to anyone here - are neither particularly associated with high ranks nor are they a mark of elevated social standing. I wouldn't be surprised if that guy was paid to include Coach and Kate Spade in the article alongside the likes of Chanel and Hermès. Implicit advertising anyone?

I agree with 1, 2, and 3 but not 4 and 5. Louis Vuitton monogram bags have been the symbols of luxury for decades. In LA, almost every ladies who are into luxury handbags have one.

I get 1-3.. 4 and 5 puzzle me.. Personally, I don't covet a Kate Spade bag nor do I ooo and aaaah over it
Coach is nice.. I own a few and love them..but sorry, it just doesn't have the WOW factor like Hermes or Chanel

There's obviously something wrong with this article because I have no idea how a "Drawstring Opus" looks. If it's supposed to be one of the most wanted bag, shouldn't it be recognizable to most people? Even though I don't care for them myself, I can recognize a Hysteria or Blondie from Gucci from yards away. But I really don't think I ever saw someone with this drawstring opus thing and cared enough to wonder what it is.

I think I would've expected something like motorcycle bags from Balenciaga, Paddington from Chloe, Stam from MJ, Muse from YSL, etc, etc, when I got upto LV as number 3. I so did not expect to see Coach or even worse, Kate Spade in this so called top 5 list!
