Certificate of Craft (Lifetime Warranty)

I believe the Certificate of Craft is only available with items purchased in the boutique. I noticed the article says it will be available starting November 1, but some are already receiving the certificate with their purchase. It has been discussed on the Jodie thread in the last week or two.

I am curious about it, because I just ordered a Men's Cassette through my SA in the boutique. It shipped directly from Italy, and I received it yesterday. I noticed this Cassette does not have the usual authenticity tag, whereas all my other bags from the Women's line do. It makes me wonder if BV is moving away from the physical authenticity tag in favor of something that can be scanned. Or maybe the men's style does not have the authenticity tag?

I plan to ask my SA about it when I get the chance. I'll report back!

Is this Certificate tied to the item itself or to the owner and item?
Most lifetime warranties - or any warranty, really - usually covers the item for as long as YOU own it. If that’s the case, it’s interesting that Bottega thinks anyone keeps their bags longer than a few years. Judging from the amount of stuff on the resale websites, I’d say people’s love affair with their new bag lasts about a year. Maybe two.
If BV truly stands behind their product (which they always have if you bought it in a boutique), then the lifetime warranty should be transferable. JMO, of course.

Can someone confirm if bags purchases from the BV online boutique also qualify for the certificate?
All the articles only mention bags purchased in the boutique. If that’s the case, it’s incredibly unfair to those who shop online with BV.

It’s only for bags purchased IN the boutique. Aka a bag that is final sale. It’s kinda bizarre.

They increase prices and add an additional cost for that warranty, like any other extended warranty. Been discussed a little on other threads.

They’re not charging for the warranty. This person would have to pay more to get the bag with warranty because they’d have to get after the price increase.

Did you mean a tag attached to the inside of the bag? I recently bought a cassete camera bag and couldn't see a tag in that either I wasn't sure if I was missing something I thought maybe it was because it wasn't lined and didn't have any pockets or anything to attach it too.

When I followed up with my SA, I was told the Men's Paper Calf Cassettes do not come with an authenticity tag (SA called it the birth certificate tag) within the bag. I usually record the number on that tag in a list of my bag collection, along with other info like materials, colors and the product code if buying new. SA texted me the product code and SKU number, but I don't think those are unique to the individual bag like the authenticity tag is. Hopefully, lack of the authenticity tag does not make it easier to pass off fakes in the resale market.

I ordered through my SA in the boutique in late October, and hoped the Certificate of Craft might be offered, since others on here were reporting they received one. It was not offered to me, but it's also not a deal breaker. I don't expect to experience any quality issues with the bag I just purchased. If I do, the repair will likely be less expensive than the amount of the recent price increase anyway.

I think think the Certificate of Craft was introduced to take the sting out of the hefty price increase, but I don't see the value in paying more for it if I can purchase the same item elsewhere with a promotional discount or on the resale market at a significantly reduced price.

I visited the Carmel boutique and learned more about the certificate program. It doesn’t apply to all bags—only certain ones such as the Cabat and the Handle. (There are others but i can’t remember them.). And it excludes what would be considered wear and tear.

I was reminded BV already has a two year warranty on its bags and this goes beyond that.

It would be nice to know which bags are included. At least we know the mini jodie is included based on this post and the ones following it...
