Has Charlize Theron Gotten Plastic Surgery?

South African beauty Charlize Theron stars with Will Smith in the much-anticipated movie Hancock this week. But has the 32-year old had any plastic surgery?
Make Me Heal takes a look at the evidence.

Since her early days, Charlize definitely looks a little different than she used to, although below the neck, her B-cup breasts seem to have remained the same, growing bigger when Charlize put on 30 pounds for her Oscar-winning role in Monster and getting smaller when she lost the excess weight.

Above the neck is a different story. Charlize’s nose is a little narrower than it was when she was younger, especially at the tip as well as along the bridge, which could be an indicator of a nose job. On the other hand, her nose sometimes looks like it leans one way, which would mean that the rhinoplasty wasn’t entirely successful or that its goal was not to get the perfect nose. However, Charlize could be better at posing now than she used to be and makes sure that her nose is captured from a flattering angle. Also, she has lost some weight, so the change in her nose could be the result of the same nose on a slimmer face — and not a nose job.
In recent years, Charlize looks to have developed a “trout pout,” the signature look of women who have had a lip augmentation. Early photos of Charlize reveal that her lips, especially her top lip, have gotten slightly larger than they used to be, which is likely the result of an injectable filler, like Restylane. Charlize’s lips aren’t ridiculously blown-up, so we applaud her restraint in keeping them natural looking.
The fullness of Charlize’s cheeks also seem to fluctuate, sometimes appearing subtly fuller. This could be a natural occurrence from weight gain and loss, or the result of an injectable filler used to plump the cheeks, like Radiesse or fat injections. It is unlikely that Charlize has cheek implants, as they would not fluctuate the way a temporary filler would.
Charlize’s skin is flawless. Although the actress is relatively young, she should have the beginnings of fine lines or even leftover scars of adolescence. But Charlizes’ skin is fresh and clear, indicating the possibility that she uses Botox on her forehead and probably has peels to get rid of any blemishes or sun damage.

Some have also speculated that Charlize has had a blepharoplasty. While this could be the case, as many actresses, including Jamie Lee Curtis and Jane Seymour ( See Make Me Heal’s story on
Jamie Lee Curtis’ plastic surgery and
Jane Seymour’s cosmetic surgery), have eyelid surgery when they are in their 30s, Charilize would still be rather young to have already had a blepharoplasty. More likely, her refreshed eyes are due to a combination of Botox, which can give brows a lift, and dermal filler on her cheeks, which can negate signs of lower lid bags.
While remote, it is possible that Charlize has had a “mid third facelift,” which many actors undergo in their 30s. A mid third facelift can smooth nasolabial folds and sagging through tiny incisions made in the mouth and sutures placed through to the hairline. If a patient wants, implants can also be placed for added fullness. It also helps eliminated the recession between the lower eyelid and cheek for a more youthful appearance. Again, this is only a possibility.
While many detect subtle differences in appearance in Charlize’s face over the years, it could be just as likely that the actress is maturing naturally and that is why the differences seem so subtle.
Whatever the case may be, Charlize looks amazing in person and even better when magnified on the big screen. We can’t wait to see her in this week’s premiere of Hancock with co-star Will Smith.
