Celebrity Ray Ban sunglass i.d. thread

I just ordered them. According to endless.com, they are "a genuine reinterpretation of the classic 1952 wayfarer release", and a sales lady at Sunglass Hut told me that they were styled after the Breakfast at Tiffany's wayfarers. I tried them on in store, and one of the ladies there said I looked like Audrey Hepburn.

^^I looked on endless and didn't see that description (that they were an reissue) - it had a rayban timeline that was interesting though. I've searched for the Breakfast glasses forever and the closest I've found is the 2140 in the large 54mm size. I think the 4141 is a round version on that - which is close too, just round instead of more wayfarer'ish, if that makes sense? Great look though either way.

I wish I could pull off the 2140s! Here is a link to the Endless description, under "the details": RB4141. To me, Audrey Hepburn's wayfarers do seem rounder than today's wayfarers, but I'm not sure. (the picture is of the 4141)

These look the most Breakfast to me:

The arms look pretty straight on these 2140's? Maybe you're getting the wrong size. Places like sunglass hut rarely have the larger sized wayfarers.

From NYLON:
WHAT'S THE SKINNY?

A pair of Ray-Bans that you won't see on every street corner.

It’s not that you don’t love your Ray-Ban Wayfarers—it’s just that everyone (and their mother, father, brother, sister…) owns a pair. And you’d prefer something a bit more unique.

Like a slender-frame, big-eye version of the classic plastic lenses unique. Like Ray-Ban’s new Skinnies, a modified version of the sun-blocking blockbuster.

The Skinnies are more Breakfast at Tiffany’s glamour than The Blues Brothers’ rebellion, thanks to a giant lenses and delicate arms. But they’re still everything you love about your Ray-Bans—ace construction, long-term durability, cool color duos—minus the ubiquity factor. Talk about eye opening…

Thanks for all the pictures! I wouldn't have guessed that Kate Moss is wearing the 4141s- I have a small face, and they look completely different on me! You're right- the 2140s in the 54mm do look similar to the Breakfast at Tiffany's wayfarers. There's just something special about the ones Audrey Hepburn wore- maybe it's the thickness of the frame? I can't figure out what it is, but that particular pair is just perfect.

^^You are 100% correct. The frame is a lot thicker than today's sunglasses. I've searched high and low - but have yet to find something close of any brand. The 2140's in 54mm are the closest I've found. Because they're larger the bottom is more of a circle then a square - so they mimicked the look of Audrey's glasses. I only can site so many photos because I went through the search myself too! HTH :flowers:

^It's nice to know I'm not the only one crazy about those sunglasses! :D Thanks for all of your help! If I ever come across a new pair of sunglasses that looks something like them, I will definitely let you know! :smile1:

My sister recently scored the ones Rachel Bilson has for free! Apparently when customers lose things at her job and they do clean up afterward they put it in lost and found until they come back to claim it. But after a week passes it's up for grabs. She got them first haha! Yay she joined the RB club with me.
