Cartier thin small/Love bracelet thread

I’ve had my small love bracelet for about 1.5 years, and been wearing it 24/7 since, with the exception of during 3 surgeries I’ve had during this time span. There has never been any issues with it, and I still adore it and even want to get another one to stack with! So I would totally recommend

I have had the thin love for over a year and have no issues with it. The only time it comes off is when I WANT to remove it (always for a work or travel reason). It’s a great bracelet. I’m thinking of adding another in pave.

I bought my first two thins in 2017. Worn together with no issues for two years until one day one opened on it’s own. It did not fall off but was completely open so I felt the scratch of ends of the open bracelet which is what caught my attention. I thought it was a fluke and just locked it again. After it happened a third time I went in to Cartier and they replaced both. The replacement thin i wore for an additional year until I took it off and it didn’t want to close again properly it was misaligned maybe. So I went back and they sent it to NY and fixed it. When I got home with the fixed one it opened on its own and fell to the ground this time. They replaced immediately but this time after spending a few hours with the newest replacement thin I decided to upgrade to another full size. Needed a break from the thins. I don’t think this is common but it can happen. No jewelry is safe proof really. Things happen. What I truly appreciate is Cartier standing behind and trying to make it right each time!

Side note I know someone asked recently about the thins not aligning with the classic. I found my most recent replacement felt a little larger. Like it didn’t align the same way as my original thins did with my classic or even my first replacements.

I’ve recently acquired a thin Love pave in yellow gold (preloved) :) I already own two thin love bracelets ( one plain and one with 6 diamonds) almost two years now so I’m quite familiar with the mechanism. My bracelets have been fine and no problems. I would like to point out that I prefer wearing my bracelets on my right arm with the screw facing away from me as it’s most comfortable. Does anyone else think it is more risky with more exposure to surfaces? I’m talking about the security of your bracelet and the wear over time. I’ve asked A Cartier representative who said over time the reverberations from surface contact may loosen the screw whichever way you choose to wear it so just regular checking it’s ok and visit to Cartier if any issues arise. As this bracelet is on the pricier side I’m also rethinking about the safety and longevity of the bracelet. I know most people wear the screw facing towards them but I don’t like the pokey inner bit of the screw and round indents it leaves so I just turn it and it’s perfectly comfortable.

Even in the 'locked' position, if I pull the 2 halves apart, it comes out without much pressure. First I noticed that even in locked position they popped apart enough to have a very visible gap - I was constantly having to pop em back together. Then I decided to see what would happen if I pulled on it a bit, and yep - came out.

Cartier took months to repair my friend's bracelet, so I took it into a local jeweler just to see what the problem was (and if it was a simple fix), and he could not identify it.

I know people use loctite for their regular sized love bracelets - but does anyone have any experience with securing the small?

What a bummer! Definitely should not be coming apart in locked position at all. You may have a defective piece so take it in to Cartier to have it checked out. It may take awhile but better safe than sorry.

My small love would easily come unlocked and would pop open if it got tugged on. I bought it second hand so I think that it was an older model where the previous owner may have tried to tighten it and caused it to loosen. I was pretty irritated until I used purple Loctite. It seems to have worked and my bracelet no longer unlocks by itself. I have now used Loctite on my classic Love and I’m happy. That being said if I purchased the bracelet new and I was the original owner I would definitely taken it to Cartier to fix no matter how long it takes.
