Cartier Tank Francaise - Small or Midsize?

Just curious what you ladies think about the size. Small or midsize for the Cartier Tank Francaise? Which is the more popular, standard size? I tend to go for classic timeless looks.

I am 5'8" with 6 inch wrists. My husband bought me the small, which I absolutely love, but I also noticed a few posts of TPF members loving their midsized version.

P.S. I'm not worried about offending my husband if I had to exchange it. This is a watch I intend to wear for a long time, so I want to make sure I have the right size.
I would go for the midsized but it really depends on your personal style.I prefer my watches big and jewelry bold!

I have a large wrist, just under 7 inches, and I greatly prefer the small size on me. Big watches make my big wrist look bigger. I think smalls are perfect.

I realise this is an old thread but I am trying to decide between the small and medium Tank Francaise and came upon this thread and your post.

I prefer the look of the small size and I generally don't like oversized watches but my wrist is just under 7 inches and just wondering if the small will look odd.

Could you post a mod shot? :flowers:

I am sorry but I no longer have the watch to model for you!

For a long time I thought I wanted the small. Then I tried on a midsize and was surprised that it also looked just as good if not better on my wrist. After trying the midsize on and seeing other women wear the small, I realized I preferred midsize, the small looked just that - small - on other womens wrists. I have the tiniest wrists and small looked more like a bracelet whereas the midsize looked like a proper watch.

I also liked that on the midsize the hour markers are larger and therefore makes time easier to read. I found that with the small I had to pull my wrist closer to my eyes to be able to read time, though I do not wear glasses and last time I checked I had 20/20 vision.

Let us know what you decide!

Thank you so much for your opinion, much appreciated!
I did actually try on the medium size but I felt it was too big. I sort of like that the small, as you say, looks more like a bracelet. I'm just worried it will still look too small on me ;)
I guess I need to try them on again. My problem is there is no Cartier where I live, only a reputable store that sells them and the two times I've been there, they've only had one or the other so I couldn't really compare.

I am also considering the Tank Solo in Gold with black leather strap. In fact, that was the watch that started my wanting a watch ... it would also solve the "problem" of hardware because I only ever wear YG jewelry so I'd be over the whole "does a steel watch go with YG jewelry"-thing. It's just that I think the Tank Francaise is really, really pretty

I love the solo too with the leather strap. I understand what you meant about wearing YG jewelry, I go back and forth so ended up with the two tone TF. Would you consider two tone?

The Tank Solo in gold would be the "easy" choice but my heart just beats faster whenever I see the Francaise :p
I have been very much considering a two tone and also tried a medium size in the two tone. I thought the gold was gorgeous and very subtle but for some reason I prefer the TF in all steel (I prefer it over all gold too) so I think I'll go with that. Besides even though all my jewelry is YG, they are all either with diamonds or what you might call dainty so I'm hoping I'll be ok with an all steel watch.
