Cartier Love owners - do you need paperwork to get bracelet polished?

I promise that polishing (to remove scratches) at Lenox Mall in Atlanta didn't cost me a penny either time I had it done! Normally they request that you leave it for a few days, but since I don't live close to that particular mall, they were able to accommodate me and have it finished in a few hours. I dropped it off at the beginning of my shopping adventure and then swung by on my way out the door. Neither time did they ask for paperwork or charge me anything. Maybe I just encountered a generous SA. Since there is so much disparity between how ladies have been charged, I'd definitely call ahead to ask at the specific location I planned on visiting.

Wow you are right! Well if I end up going to Cartier this weekend, I will let everyone know what I find out!

really? when we were in las vegas last summer, we went into cartier because i inquired about having it polished (this was before i had my jeweler polish it) and they told me specifically it would cost $85 to polish and they would have to send it off to NY to do so. which is why i walked out and didn't have them do it. it wasn't so much the money but the time away from it that bothered me.

maybe because i didn't purchase from them? did you have it polished at the cartier where you purchased it? if so, i can understand why it would be immediate and not cost anything.

Seriously?! Wow. Charging for this service is absolutely absurd.

My bracelet was purchased in NYC.
Skip forward several years...We were walking past Cartier on Champs Elysees and popped in to ask about process for having love bracelet polished. She explained that she would happily do it immediately and that it is without charge. She removed the bracelet, offered us a drink, and brought it back to me about 15 minutes later.

Hm. I think that there are two levels of polishing. That is what it sounds like to me. A quick shine-up only takes a few minutes; that shouldn't cost anything. But a more involved polish, the kind that takes the scratches out, I can see that costing more.

Scratches were completely removed, including a few deep ones. The bracelet, which I've worn every day for years, looked new.

Edit: sorry to answer the question about paperwork... I didn't have paperwork, receipt or proof of purchase. Just walked in off the street on a whim. So I assume, in Paris at that local you don't need anything.

Well that's a point too - isn't it true that with gold you wear a little off every time you polish but with platinum it just sort of melts it and spreads it around? So if you had a platinum one you'd never lose any weight by polishing it, correct?

I'm in Canada and had a white gold one with diamonds polished a year ago (it was really scratched up) and it seriously looked like new (it's my mother's and was about 10 years old). I didn't need to bring in papers (just brought in the bracelet) and it took about a month and cost $200 including tax.

the only thing i can gather from this is maybe it all depends on the store. the SA in vegas made it sound like they didn't have the equipment to do this service, which is why they would have to ship it back to the NY store in the first place.

or, the SA was just being lazy. LOL

according to my local Cartier SA:
1: 1st time polish is free, but I must leave it with them for 2 weeks. It's sent to their 'technician' in the same city, not in house. This service removes most of the visible scratches except deep ones.
2. In house cleaning is free anytime, unlimited number of times. Just walk in and wait for about 15 minutes.
3. NO paperwork required if bought from the same store, not sure if done outside the country.

Hope this help

I just had my rose gold Love bracelet and DH's Love and Trinity rings polished this past weekend at the 5th Avenue boutique (customer service department on the second floor). The wait was only about 10 minutes. The service was free of charge for all 3 pieces, and the SA placed each piece in its own complimentary red suede Cartier pouch for me. I asked how often I should re-polish and he informed me that I should not have this done too often, just once every 2-3 years is fine.

I brought in my Love bracelet that I bought second hand in to be examined. She said that in order to have it properly polished, it would cost me $ and I would have to leave it there. But she would steam clean it for free, no problem. I think that if I had bought it there, I might have gotten a proper polish for free.
