I heard from a friend that you need to bring the ID card in... is that true? It seems really weird to me- you don't need to do that to have a Tiffany's ring serviced. Surely they can recognize the serial number/authenticity of their own pieces?

Thanks! Looking at a used one on ebay but it doesn't come with the papers... if I am sure it's authentic I'd consider buying it but not if that's true - thanks!

I've had mine polished twice at the Lenox Mall location in Atlanta. I walked in both times with nothing but the bracelet. They didn't ask me for any paperwork...they just took the bracelet to the back and gave me a time when I could come back and pick it up.

Hi surfergirljen, Don't you hate when they have nothing with the item. I keep everything with an expensive purchase. Some of those fakes are pretty good but you would think they should be able to tell if it was the real deal.

i have gotten my bracelet polished twice—but never from cartier. i'm sorry, i think it's ridiculous to pay $80 or $100 to get it polished from cartier, and then you have to wait a few weeks to get it back.

not only that, there is no longer a cartier in denver so the closest one (i think) is either aspen or las vegas (aspen is 4 hours away).

i just took it to my jeweler whom we purchased my original wedding set from and he has polished it twice, free of charge, and it took less than 10 minutes. it looked brand new!

but to answer your original question, i have no idea. i keep my COA tucked away in my jewelry box and i can't imagine traveling with it just to get it polished (since cartier is far away from us).

FYI, i purchased mine used on eBay as well 3 years ago (it was only a year old), but it came with the COA. imo, i wouldn't have purchased it without a COA. it didn't come with a box, which was fine with me since the box would sit empty the whole time anyway (it's always on my wrist). just be cautious of purchasing something like that on eBay without the authentication papers.

really? when we were in las vegas last summer, we went into cartier because i inquired about having it polished (this was before i had my jeweler polish it) and they told me specifically it would cost $85 to polish and they would have to send it off to NY to do so. which is why i walked out and didn't have them do it. it wasn't so much the money but the time away from it that bothered me.

maybe because i didn't purchase from them? did you have it polished at the cartier where you purchased it? if so, i can understand why it would be immediate and not cost anything.

Hm. I think that there are two levels of polishing. That is what it sounds like to me. A quick shine-up only takes a few minutes; that shouldn't cost anything. But a more involved polish, the kind that takes the scratches out, I can see that costing more.

Polishing and cleaning are 2 different things.

1) cleaning is free at any Cartier boutique.
2) polishiing (to remove scratches) will take a week, and cost ~$80 at the Cartier boutique.
