Cartier Love Bracelet Nightmare: Defective Product, Negligent Service, and a Shameful Experience

I had the small and I honestly don’t see how this could happen. If it was that loose to just fall apart it would have been noticed by quality control or when you first put it on. That said, I’m surprised Cartier didn’t offer to repair it for you. I would try disputing the purchase with your credit card.

The screw side stayed on but the hinge side came apart first, so after the hinge part came apart. I unscrewed the screw side to take the whole thing off.
How did that happen? I actually have the same bracelet for 4 years and I wear it when I surf and play soccer and haven't had any issues.

I had an issue with my small bracelet about a month after purchasing. I sent it in for repair and it was fine for about another month, but continued having the same issue after. I spoke to my sales associate two months ago and she exchanged my bracelet for a brand new one.
same for my pave love as the clasp opens by itself 😨 i had it fixed once but it continued having the same problem. I contacted my SA and she was really sorry and said they would replace a new clasp for me this time. Hopefully it will be fixed permanently and so far my experience with Cartier customer service has been pretty good.. Hope OP's problem gets addressed too!

I am guessing it was received scratched at the e-boutique because the two halves were not wrapped separately when you returned them. The two halves probably scratched each other upon transport in the box or travel pouch.

The small Love is known to be defective with the customer service dept at a physical boutique I visited in the U.S. That is why the medium Love has a different hinge per the service rep I spoke with. My observation of the medium Love is that the opposite side has a small gap and the corner is sharp - the small Loves don’t have this. Anyway, Cartier is still testing out this new hinge on the new Mediums. So far it seems better than the small love’s lock and hinge. Eventually, all the Love bracelets will have this locking system per the rep I spoke with. I think the screw system has been a pain for Cartier.

I don’t think Cartier gives out refunds ever unless the item has no scratches whatsoever. I do know they give exchanges or store credit for faulty items as some tpf members pointed out here and other threads.

With the refund, you may want to check out Chanel’s coco crush bangles for your significant other. The locking system is more secure. It is not as trendy as the Love bracelets yet which is also a plus. The history of the coco crush lock is pretty interesting. The designer actually approached Cartier with his proposed locking mechanism, and he was turned down. So he went to Chanel, and the rest is history. If you look at those bracelets, you won’t be able to tell where the opening is. It is seamless and smooth all around.

Good luck!

Not the OP. In my case, they returned my rejected return with a loose bracelet and loose screwdriver. I actually took video of opening the box and was able to give them evidence that that bracelet was further damaged from the two rattling around.

Do you have the small pave?

i have the full pave and I haven’t seen many ppl complaining about the problem before. Might just be the one I got 😧
So the side latch of your full pave pops out? There is the side latch and the button on the full pave version.

The worse I heard is the side latch gets flattened when the bracelet is stacked with others. I haven’t heard anything of this opening up on its own. Does your side latch swing freely or have some tension when you open it? I can see the button pressed down accidentally, but the side latch seems to lock the bracelet in place.

Yes it pops out by itself and this has happened multiple times. Several times I was doing random light house chores and I noticed all of sudden the latch was already opened 😱. I do stack it with other bracelets but the latch doesn’t touch with others so I don’t think it’s affected. And it totally feels fine with proper tension when it’s locked. Only thing I could hope is that with the second round of repair they could fix it permanently, considering it’s such an expensive piece and I don’t want to lose it :(

Wow, I’m surprised to see this. I hope your bracelet gets fixed! I would keep returning it to customer service if it continues to do that. It shouldn’t pop out like that (just moving that latch out is a pain because it feels really stuck to the bracelet and needs a little force to release it), and I agree it is an expensive piece. It doesn’t sound like you remove this piece daily either.

I did read years ago in this forum about someone losing this bracelet because it came off on its own (sorry, don’t remember which thread - it was years ago), but the SA I spoke with at the time said that was impossible - citing that the pave was the most secure of all the locks - so I thought I read the post wrong. I’m sorry to hear you are having this problem. I would ask for a replacement if it continues to do that. It depends on the store and manager approval I guess. Perhaps if you can compare to a newer one they have in stock, you could ask why that latch pops out on its own.

This is the most secured bracelet out of their collection! Do you hear it click with slight force when it is closed? When it clicks into place are you able to lightly pull on the hook mechanism to feel that it is secured and locked into place? If it comes out with the slightest tug then it is a defect and Cartier should fix it or exchange it. Hope they will do good in customer service!
