I would also suggest to shop indirectly with your card, ie pay with PayPal or Apple Pay or whatever other secure ‚middle man’… this way your card details are not directly linked to an online retailer. Hope it makes senseI’m increasingly concerned about how much of my data might be exposed on the dark web after all these recent breaches. During our workplace data protection training, the key takeaway was to use a dedicated email address for banking and investments. Since online retailers are frequent targets, I now use separate email accounts for shopping. The rule is simple: never use the same email for both banking and shopping.
I’m also skeptical of Cartier’s claim that only names and email addresses were leaked. With the right cross-referencing, attackers can easily guess simple passwords and potentially gain access to user accounts.
