Am I the only one that thinks that the price point is insanely high for a mostly canvas bag? Yes, lots of time to make with the stitching but the material cost is so much lower.

With the outer pockets and leather covers on each (bottom) corners and the cup holder among other added leather features (added pockets) compared to the regular Birkin, I was told it adds about another day of work for the artisan.

The leather trimming and piping is time consuming and with all things H, made to perfection. We were honored to attend an event, years ago, where we watched the artisan handcraft his masterpiece and there are so many steps we take for granted because we don’t see what it entails to hand stitch something to perfection.

Others were able to see the process of dying the canvas and leathers, unfortunately we did not attend that part of the event as we flew in the week after.

Due to COVID we missed the exhibit in Copenhagen in 2021 :(
But aside from the craftsmanship and artisan’s time included in the price we pay for our Birkins, we also pay for the research it takes to create a bag.

Fun fact, It took more than two years of research, to ensure that the silversmithed clasp of the brand’s ‘Mosaïque au 24’ bag integrated perfectly into its soft leather flap. These are things included in each price point consumers sometimes overlook.

I totally agree with everything you’ve said. Part of the reason we love the brand is because of the amount of work they put into their items. My comment was really just my own opinion based off of materials used.

Oh I see, and in my opinion they are fairly priced and my basis is not so much the canvas/materials used but the craftsmanship, attention to detail and labor that goes into them.
The picnic Birkin or picnic Kelly use significantly less leather and Osier wicker which to some, may seem like those cost less than leather but again, in my opinion they are fairly priced based on the labor that goes into them.
My great grandfather and grandfather made saddles for all their horses. Later made a small business out of it and moved on to mens belts and unisex leather sandals. :) Nothing like H but to watch them in action was so inspirational growing up :) I guess that’s why I love anything handmade and leather especially:)

Agreed that the price is steep. But I am drooling for this bag it even came to my dream! How perfect it is for daily with jeans and tshirt. Eyeing for the bleu marine with black lining.

Sadly won’t be able to get it in my home country as the SM did not place any orders (and I am out of quota lol). The resellers price are also through the roof….

$22,600 for the B35 cargo Birkin, price as of February 2021
the 30 $21, 600 and the 25 $20,400 before price increase
Correction **
Sorry I forgot to convert to USA dollars correctly, $20,400 Australian dollar equals
$14,423.92 United States Dollar but the 25 bought in USA is $14,600 USA dollars and the 35 is $22,600 in USA dollars. My understanding is it skipped the size 30 in USA for the time beginning…who knows what the future holds, only time will tell. Loving the 40 HAC :)
