What about it? I have seen many a tiffany ring, even owned a couple, and many of their diamonds are not all that fabulous. Many are not graded by reputable labs, only by THEIR lab which means they can say anything from a real letter J to a letter M is an F. Because they decided what qualifies as an F. No standard compared to the industry, just what they want it to be.

Quality is not just colour and clarity. It's CUT above all. If it's cut poorly, as I find many Tiffany diamonds to be, it's not going to sparkle and no amount of color or clarity will save it.

What is your budget for this ring? And what is most important to you besides a sparkling high quality diamond? Color or clarity? We can definitely help you find a ring that would meet or exceed Tiffany's quality.

Here are a few from all over the range. Just because it's a D-E-F color doesn't make it better than a G-H-I color stone. You can get duds in all ranges.

Another thing to consider is that diamond pricing is skyrocketing. At all sizes, all colors, clarities and cut qualities. That's across the board.

But if you're not buying this RIGHT NOW and are waiting a few years, there's no poitn in even worrying about any of this because what's available when you can buy and will buy it won't be what;s available now, nor will the price be anything similar, especially if pricing goes up as it is.

I just want to say this:

If you want Tiffany, get Tiffany. Don't settle on something else. If you want a high-quality, if not THE highest quality, we will not steer you wrong. But if you're not ready to buy this right now, don't get too involved in this stuff because the supply and pricing will not be the same when the time comes at all.

Thanks!

They will likely change quite a bit, and definitely more expensive. Diamonds have in some cases doubled in price in the last few weeks, and almost all have gone up at least 50% over the last few months. If the economy of the US and the World doesn't get better they will not come back down. I don't think they really ever will honestly, I think they'll stop increasing at some point, but not decrease.

Yep. If I was to try to buy the same stone I have now right now it would cost nearly 2x what I paid. Which would mean I couldn't get it. Little pave sized stones (called melee) are skyrocketing too.

I would not waste the money on a tiffany diamond. you can get a much larger diamond elsewhere like others have said and you want to be able to upgrade. I started off with .25 earrings and upgraded to 1ct now. You get used to the size and want bigger! You really pay a premium for Tiffany and there is really no point if you are just starting off in the jewelry world.

Trust me this will not be your last piece. I bought myself the diamond earrings when I was 20 and have made several other diamond purchases since then. It's fun having a collection.

I agree with Ame, that if you do not have the $10k to spend right now that it's probably not the best time to look for diamonds that cost $10k. When you finally have the money saved, the inventory and the prices will be different.

Tiffany does have an upgrade policy- one time, and you must spend double the original amount. They'll usually credit you the full purchase price, but may charge a restocking fee.

I happen to find Tiffany diamonds beautiful and I love my e-ring. Not all Tiffany diamonds are duds-- they sell some fantastically sparkly stones. My ring gets compliments on its sparkle all the time. It's possible to get just as beautiful of a stone without paying for a designer setting, but if it is what you REALLY want then you won't be happy with any less.

GL!

I really don't want to spend more than this! I'd love to buy the ring now and I've got enough money BUT my father won't allow me to do this!

Sounds strange, I earn my own money and so on, but he keeps controlling me! He works at the finance authority, so he always has an insight into my financial situation and the interests I receive.

He says he won't support me anymore (in various ways) if I spend my money on jewelry!
Anecdotally, HE drives a mercedes and buys himself a new one every three years *angry*

What should I do? I mean I don't want any money from him but I want him to respect my buying-decision!
