Capucines exotics

So I know the last post was a month ago but I came here to do some investigating after picking up this beauty today. I didn’t know about customizing an exotic until today myself. There are no premium for customization and time frame can range from a few days to months depending on the type of leather. Ostrich was supposedly one of the faster ones. I was almost ready to make my order when the SA brought to me all the colors they had in the store and she happened to have exactly the combination I wanted. I didn’t go into the store looking for this but everything really felt meant to be! My first exotic piece and first Capucines! SA gave me the rain covers and the dust covers are super plush in the inside.

I saw your post when I was doing a search! That’s crazy that I got to skip what you went through with the process of customizing. It really worked out because if I had to order it then it would involve another flight to Paris to pick it up. 😅 Is it the same color? I thought you said Indigo in your post.. my receipt says saphir. Either way the colors are gorgeous.

Good memory, yes, mine is Indigo! I’m happy you didn’t have to order it. I paid the full price upfront and waited almost 6 months. Plus, I thought it was being made in Paris but it was made in Italy. I’m okay with that, I love my bag but I was mislead at the boutique.

Hi, Happy to find this forum and meet you I need your opinions and feedback please! My CA talked me into this purchase. It's a very unique piece and the photos do not do the color any justice. This was launched in October but with a limited amount of stock which is why you wouldn’t be able to find any of the on the website, or on most LV platforms. Price Tag: $14,400!!!! :O This is my first ever exotic piece. I didn't want one and wasn't shopping for one but CA advised that the uniqueness of it makes it impassible. Is it worth it? What's the ROI for such pieces. Thanks in advance.

Personally, I feel you shouldn’t buy ANY bag just because your SA talked you into it.

Is the bag beautiful? Yes, but for me if I’m buying an exotic bag I’d like the entire bag to be made of an exotic leather, not just the handle (ostrich, python etc would be much cheaper than a croc handle bag). Also, capucines does not yet hold its value at resale.

I personally own one exotic capucines (in karung) but I bought it because I fell in love with the bag, with zero thought spared to resale value because I never sell my bags. I bought a karung (water snake) leather one (python is unfortunately banned for sale in my country), which cost approx $8k incl of taxes in USD. But it was my decision to buy because I loved it! If you buy one it should be because you love it.

I totally agree with @Pursephile . You should buy this stuff only if you love it very much. Vuitton is struggling to sell exotics, most people don't associate them with high end luxury and when they are ready to spend this amount of money, they go to Hermès. Kind of understandable. How they connected the crocodile panels for the strap tells a lot.
The "ROI" part: Capucines don't really hold their value, and Vuitton exotics are notoriously bad "investment pieces" in the first place, for the very same reasons why the store is struggling to sell them.
The uniqueness aspect is true, they don't produce thousands of these (hence the fake 3D photo on the website), but that doesn't mean it is sought after. Especially that you can just walk into any of their stores and special order any kind of exotic Capucines you want.
Anyway, we don't want to spoil the magic, but I feel that this was rather a tactical decision (ignited by the SA), rather than an emotional one. And this kinda thing should be decided by the heart only.

About how to find/be offered an exotic:

I went to LV to try the Slouchy and Speedy (and I haven been in there in forever because th last collections haven't been my cup of tea).

Then a new SA helps me (but a few of the SAs that know me comes by to chat a bit, they know my taste and have helped me for years). They told him to get out some top handle bags to try. I carried my Keepall 25, that I had put a medium strap on so it was like a Speedy in strap drop. They also know I have The OTGs and that I usually carries one of my Birkins.

He then shows me the Capucines MM even though I've said it's not really my style, but I ABSOLUTELY fell in love! Except for that particular color.

Then he steps away, talks to the store manager who also know me and then comes back saying "please follow me sir". I'm so baffled because it's never happened at LV before.

We go to a more quiet corner (although it's a small store so it still not really private) and he brings out some white gloves and asks me to put them on and that he will be right back.

Then he comes out with this gorgeous Capucines BB in black croc! 😍

I liked the croc but with such a small bag I felt the scales made it look even smaller so now my SA is trying to source me a black Lizard and hubs has put notifications on all auction sites for a Lizard BB.

I love both Capucines sizes but then I also fell in love with the Prada Aimée and Prada Soft Sound medium leather shoulder bag.
