I literally use my Calvi multiple times a week, but only just started LOOKING at my Calvi. It's Rouge H (my favorite color), but has started looking dull. Does anyone use a leather cleaner on these?

Just found my old order information. This is the description:

PORTE-CARTES CALVI ALEATOIRE TAURILLON CRISTOBAL H074272CKAA
I wouldn't take H leather care tips from me, but... Collonil are really good and have all kinds of leather treatment products that could probably cheer up your pretty Calvi.

Hi. I'm new to the Hermes world. I have been wanting a calvi in a brown color for a while now and I'm finally ready to take the plunge. But which leather type is the best for the calvi in that color? On the website I can choose between Epsom, Mysore, Evercolor and Chamkila atm.
I've read that the Epsom is the most hardwearing but that it's also difficult (if not impossible) to salvage if it gets scuffed. And although I do like my SLGs to look pristine for as long as possible, I don't mind a pretty patina and softer leather with time. Looking only from the website my favorite texture/color might be Evercolor in Gold but is Evercolor prone to scratches? I hope some of you can help me with the decision :hbeat:
Welcome! I'm sure you will love a calvi- they are lovely, functional and versatile. I have a few ( and some bastia) in both chevre mysore and chamkila, use them everyday and have not really seen any discernable "wear" on them. They are soft to the touch, yet maintain their shape, color saturation, etc. I'm not a fan of epsom or the stiffer leathers, but that's just me- others love them. My barenia ones have patina-ed ( and scratched) but that's barenia and you just gotta go with it or not get involved.
Personally, I vote for chevre, but that's MY vote, not yours. I honestly believe that your biggest problem is that you're going to love it, and then will be looking for another...... and a bastia to match..... and another.......
Good luck with this very pleasant problem ( and oh yes, just to throw another wrench in the works- I am a total neutral lover, but its really nice to sometimes have a bright calvi in your bag- not only looks great, but easy to spot!)

Hi and welcome to the H world! I have all of the leathers that you mentioned in calvis. All of them scratches because if you put them in your purse, it will scratch with whatever is in your purse (in my case it's my H bearn compact wallet that always goes together with the calvis). Epsom is very tough but the scratches show and scratches don't disappear when you try to buff with your fingers. Mysore and chamkila are both chevre, they are very prone to dents so you have to be careful with it being under anything heavy that could dent. The dents somehow disappear too if you "train" the leather back. Also, I can buff scratches with my fingers and often just disappears. Evercolor is somewhat similar to chevre but the leather is not as soft. A gold in evercolor would be a good choice. I have one in gold and I love it, I just forgot which leather.
Thank you for the thorough description. Sounds like you have a lovely collection of Calvis  I went to the store today to feel the leathers in person but they only had the gold in Epsom and nothing with the Chamkila leather. I really did like the feel of evercolor but am worried about wear on it. But they had another leather that I didn’t have in consideration before, Veau Madame, which looked like an embossed leather like Epsom but was less plastic-y. Do you know if the Veau Madame keeps it’s shape like Epsom? There’s too many options  I think I’m in between evercolor or Veau madame now. Maybe I should just buy one of each:giggle:

Thank you! There’s way too many options, it doesn’t make the decision any easier. And I think you’re right, I’m already feeling like adding another color and I haven’t even bought the first one yet  I felt the Mysore in store today, my god is it butter soft, but I think I’d be too scared to use it because of that.

The mysore DOES feel delicious, but wears beautifully and ( at least mine) have not scratched at all- maybe its the grain of the leather that disguises it. Haven't really seen poor wear on mysore ( or older/vintage other types chevre) bags either- it's just a great leather.
Whatever you go with will be great and you will love it. Please show us so we can all enjoy it with you.

Okay, now I REALLY know Hermes is reading this thread. There are currently 25 choices for Calvis on the Hermes site. lol
But if they are, where are all the Rouge Casaque/Rouge Vif and Rose Mexico/Rose Thyrien/Rose Shocking Calvis on the EU website?!

Has anyone seen Rose Mexico Calvis or Bastias in the EU? Also, am I correct in thinking Rose Mexico is very similar to Rose Thyrien/Rose Shocking, i e hot pink?

The Hermes USA site ebbs & flows with calvis. Usually they'll do a restock with up to ~40 different colors. It'll dwindle in variety over a month or two as people buy them until it's re-stocked again.

I just purchased a two color Calvi, I noticed the corners are stretched out and the inside color is visible. I got it in goatskin.
Can you pls post pictures of the corners. Thank you
