I have a new Mac and have no pics on it right now, but I've posted a ton of pics of my I color 3.67 round in this forum.
I prefer a slightly lower color, but I don't want to see any yellow. If size and cut is most important to you and you aren't obsessed w/ white stones, then an H-I color is perfect for you!

thanks, swanky! I think I've seen pics of your HUGE(!) ring in other threads, and it is TDF!!!

My center stone is GIA certified I VVS 2 and my side stones in my Scott Kay setting are G's VS1-2 and there is no visible color difference, as long as the stones are well cut with a good clarity the near colorless range will face up white and it should be extremely difficult to see a difference with the naked eye, especially with only a variation of color within a few letter grades within the same range (colorless, near colorless etc.).....

my new diamond studs are I in color, and theres no yellow to them. i have to say i've seen some H stones that look yellow, but not sure what kind of grading they had done. i've seen many I stones that face up white - just make sure that any side stones (if any) are similar in color. unless comparing an I stone directly next to say an F stone, it takes a pretty trained eye to notice. there are some high color grades that def have that icy white appearance, but u prob wont notice!

I have a 1.6ct RB, It is an EGL I, but is probably more like a J in reality. It faces up 100% white. You can see the tint from the side though. I don't like the look of steely DEF diamonds anyway. If you do, don't go with a J. Personally I think G diamonds are the prettiest, and thanks to the exceptional cut of my diamond, it faces up like a great G. Another thing is if you get a diamond that has some level of blue florecence it will help the ring to look whiter.
Have you ever checked out the forums on pricescope. I wouldn't say it's a comfortablle forum like this, but it's sure full of knowledge!

This is a great thread. I'm also planning to compromise on color. I actually like a little bit of the warmth in certain stones, but I do want it to face up white. That's what concerns me about buying from Blue Nile or White Flash -- how will I be able to tell if the stone faces up white? Is an excellent cut an assurance that it will face up white?

I am thinking that I is as low as I would go, although I have seen some truly gorgeous J diamonds.

For me, I'm not interesting in diamond specs at all. I don't think I've ever heard anybody ask another person what the specs are of her diamond in real life.

This is so true. No one has ever asked me the specs of my diamond, ever. Nor has anyone asked me where it was purchased (Tiffany, Cartier, street corner, etc.).

I love I colored diamonds....

At first I did notice the less brillant component of the flashes, and it looking dull at different times...but it is perfect for everyday and the price is excellent!! Its a great choice!!

Just make sure to compare and see whats out there....

If a diamond looks dull at times or flashes less brilliantly it's the cut, not a color issue. I have an AMAZING J diamond in a necklace that is possibly the most brilliant sparkler ever. It's tiny, but cut to perfection. It shows more color than my r-ring though, but I don't mind it in the necklace.

You can call white flash and ask them to help you pick one out. I've heard they are very good to deal with. Another excellent place is goodoldgold.com They have amazing diamonds, and you can also call them and they will help you. Personally next diamnd I get will likely be through goodoldgold.

^that's what I was going to say. Forget looking on the WF website, just call them and tell them exactly what you want. They'll actually go and pull the stones and sit and describe them to you. If it's THEIR stone in stock they can negotiate w/ you.

I hear what your saying...but I meant in terms of comparing it to a higher color grade, side by side. There is a clear difference in the way it sparkles...I have one that is much higher grade and its a much brighter sparkle and shine....

I do agree that cut has alot to do with the sparkle but the overall brillance is different with the color grade imo.

I personally have a I 2.39 Round Brillant Diamond set in a Tiffany setting, Cut Grade AGS 000, GIA cut grade Excellent and Hearts and Arrow Diamond. My diamond faces up completly white and there is no tint what so ever from the side. I just cleaned my diamond to check for you. I also don't personally like D and E (Icy White) round diamonds because they look like CZ's. IMO

I personally bought my diamond so I spent a lot time researching it on this forum, Pricescope and I read a few diamond books. From, "The Expert's Guide to 100 Things Everyone Should Know How to Do," by Samantha Ettus, Ronald Winstone, CEO and president of Harry Winston (I think he is related) he says that GIA is the gold standard of diamond grading he says that diamonds should be purchased in any shape D-G and any darker color than G should not be purchased in any shape except a round brillant because the color tends to concentrate at the points and become more noticeable.

However when you look at diamonds side by side you can see a difference in color I have not noticed at difference in Sparkle or Brillance. In real life no one ever looks a diamonds next to other diamonds unless you are wearing another diamond ring. When I was first looking at diamonds in the F/G color range in this size and it was a considerable price difference about 10K USD more and I couldn't justify the price for a higher color.

Ladies, you have absolutely beautiful rings!!

Side by side, my Hearts on Fire I color grade diamond looks whiter than my E color Lazare Kaplan.

The LK is a great cut and while still very respected ( they've been in business over 100 years and were the industry standard for a long time) my HOF is the better cut and throws back more white light to the eye thus it "looks whiter"
