I use a mild spray cleaner, like the kind I clean my counters with, or if it is really dirty, I'll wash it in the sink with dishwashing liquid. They come out just fine.
My dd was in a bar and sat her bag down, it was dark and she apparently sat it down in a spilled drink. It wasn't the signature fabric, it was a soft felt or suede feeling bag....an outlet bag. It soaked it up like a sponge and the bag was light colored. :amazed: Anyway, the sink, warm water and Woolite didn't do the trick so I sprayed the heck out of it and threw it in the next washing. The stain finally faded after 2 sprays and washings and the bag held up perfectly. Coach is tougher than you'd think.

I have a Kristin hobo in the signature black on black sateen fabric and it's easy to clean. I've also cleaned the scarf print, more delicate fabric bags and they turned out great.

I'm 'older' like you...OP...wear what you like...we've earned it. Besides, shoes and purses are two things I can express my fashionable side with.

Washing machines...I have a HE (high efficiency) top loader...no center agitator...and it's super gentle. It goes in one direction, then the opposite...over and over again. lol It's an LG brand.

I am just out of my 30s and have been carrying this older convertible bag for a week or so and loving it. It is so lightweight and can hold anything I need. It helps that anything in the wine/burgundy range is a favorite of mine. I am enjoying the bag so much I don't care if it isn't the most trendy right now! I make it awesome. ;). I say wear signature if you want. Go for it!

Love the color and your butterfly fob - they look awesome together! I'm not really a sig fan, but I like this combo....

I used to be into the "C" signature bags in the early/mid-2000s when they were new, but I've definitely grown out of them. I would see SO many of the signature bags being worn by others (of which many were fakes) that I just got sick of them and didn't like seeing them in my collection. At a certain point I so rarely used them that I decided to sell all of them off a couple years ago and am happy to say that I have no signature bags left - even my former fave Legacy Mandy had to go because I wasn't using her at all, but that was a reallllly heavy bag due to the hardware and leather trim. If I'm looking for a lighter weight bag to carry a lot of stuff, I use a Longchamp tote now.

As for being common, I don't see too many signature bags around town (I live/work in a downtown area) anymore, but I see them more often when I go out to the suburbs to visit friends/family. I think seeing a lot of them depends if an outlet is nearby because most of the newer "C" bags are MFF.

But you do you!! My best friend and my sister both still wear their signature "c" bags from the past years, so as long as you're comfortable wear them! The past can become the present again... I actually see a lot of the vintage bags (Willis & City bags especially) around the city on women younger than me and they are getting harder to come by on eBay and thrift stores. I used to keep my vintage bags in storage and now I wear my vintage Patricia and Willis a LOT!!
Maybe one day I won't dislike the Cs anymore and will wish I hadn't sold mine off, but we'll just "C" ;)
