C De Cartier necklace

I got my cdc in March and have worn it everyday since. It is 0.5c in yellow gold. I was debating between the 0.35c and 0.5c as like with your sizes, there is a significant price difference. I ended up not liking the rose gold on the 0.35c since my jewelry is yellow gold. I didn't notice in the store, but in my home lighting, the coppery tone was more distinct, so I ended up exchanging for the larger size so I could get yellow gold.

From my experience, I can say that the 0.5c is a great everyday size. It's super comfortable and lightweight, I have no problems sleeping in it. I did also have the chain lengthened.

However if you are already concerned about having regrets over the smaller size of diamond bc diamond shrinkage is a thing and you can afford it, it's best to go with the larger size. You may initially think it's a bit big and flashy at first, that was my concern with 0.5c, but you'll get used to it in time. I feel like people rarely regret going larger when it comes to diamonds, but much more often regret going too small.
Thank you for your response! I will also need to lengthen the chain. Did they keep the original two jump rings and added an additional, third one? Or did they lengthen the chain and keep only two jump rings, just at "longer" positions (sorry it's an awkward wording, not sure how to articulate this differently)?
Also, when I tried these on, especially the larger stone, I noticed that the pendant was sort of flipping towards me, if that makes sense. Maybe due to the curved C design on the back of the pendant, the stone was kind of facing towards my chin more than towards the mirror. It wasn't too bad, but definitely not ideal . Do you experience this with your necklace?

They lengthen the chain equally on both sides and keep the original 2 rings. Mine took about 3 weeks to get it shipped back. You can always ask your SA if you'd rather add jump rings, but I believe they normally do not do that.

I do not have issues with flipping, but I have an idea of what you mean. It could be that if the chain is too short it doesn't settle in the natural center of your neck is my guess. But no, I do not have that problem on my 0.5c. I'm also not sure if a larger carat size being a tad heavier might cause it to do that.

The nice thing is you don't have a time limit on when you have the necklace extended, at least that is what my SA told me, so you could try a temporary necklace extender to double check that would fix the issue before having them extend it, as then you can't return or exchange.

I posted these pics in another thread, but this is my cdc after I had it lengthened. It still sits quite high bc the slope of my neck. Before I had it lengthened, it was practically choking me, lol.

It really is a fantastic necklace. Classic, yet a little unique due to the setting. Goes with everything and for me it really pulled all my other pieces together. You can't go wrong whatever one you choose!

Wow the necklace looks amazing! It really works great with all your other pieces. That's the reason why I'm considering it as well, I wear love everyday, often stacked with JUC, small love or panther and need something sparkly, but not overpowering to go with my stack.

Thank you! I think it will make a great addition to your collection. I love how simple and classic the design is, while the square setting makes the diamond setting appear larger and is rather unique to most solitaire settings you'll see online or at the local jeweler.

Plus I love how shiny cartier chains are. It's also surprisingly lightweight. I was worried about the comfort of sleeping in it as I never used to sleep with a necklace on, but I got used to it very quickly bc of its longer length and being so light.

That's great to know that it's comfortable to sleep in! I agree that the setting looks unique, so it doesn't feel like you're overpaying luxury brand prices for a generic looking solitaire. I made a mistake of purchasing Tiffany dbty solitaire years ago and I really regret it. I don't like the chain, it's not shiny at all and the design is super generic. The resale value is terrible too, so I'm stuck with it. It's in platinum, so I'll keep it for when I need a WG look. But now I'm mostly wearing YG, so I think C de Cartier in YG will be a perfect do-over of my attempt to get a classic beautiful solitaire. This time, I'm really taking my time to see different options and plan out my purchases well. I still need to decide what earrings to get for everyday to go with this necklace and my bracelets. I like your earrings, I think they go well with the necklace. I'm not sure if also to go for diamond hoops (considering the new Cartier double hoops with the removable hoop) or a matching pair of C de Cartier earrings. Have you considered getting the matching earrings?
I kind of don't like having 90% of my jewelry from the same brand (Cartier), but I prefer Cartier's designs to all other brands. I tried finding a necklace or earrings in Bvlgari, Chaumet, Graff, Messika and others and while I found many pieces from these brand really beautiful, nothing really suited my purpose and my lifestyle. Somehow Cartier just has the most perfect designs (to my liking) that are actually wearable.

What size is this? It's stunning

I just received mine last week! So far I don't find any cons about the necklace. The setting is beautiful! Here are a couple of mod shots. Hope it helps!

Reaching out to @lemontart or anyone else that owns the C de Cartier pearl pendant—how are you liking it? Unfortunately this Pearl version seems to be discontinued but I’ve been thinking about it for a long time now. Would be willing to seek it out preloved. Would love your thoughts!

Love mine so much, I have had it for 3 years now in WG. For me, the design is absolutely perfect with the brilliant cut diamond on the square setting, could not recommend it enough. Although in terms of cost for the actual diamond size you are getting, if that is something you care about then this necklace is not great from that perspective because of the fact that it is a branded diamond. You could get something custom made that is more cost effective for the size of the diamond. However, I am a Cartier person so that doesn't bother me at all.

Thanks so much! That’s great to hear you still love your necklace 3 years later! I was specifically interested in the Pearl version because a diamond in the size I would want is not in my budget right now. I’m hoping the pearl version is almost as pretty as the diamond in its own way (and Pearl is my birthstone). Thanks again!

Oh no it is discontinued? It is still on the website, marked as out of stock. I was hoping you could still order it from the boutique.

On the USA site, I no longer see the pearl pendant. I remember when I last checked a couple of months ago, the pearl pendant was marked as out of stock but was still orderable through an online SA. Now I don't see the reference number for the pearl version at all.

Oh I was clearly skim reading! The pearl version is beautiful! I've definitely seen it come up pre loved but I would see if you could order it through Cartier, they might be able to find one for you.
