Buying new or pre-owned?

Call me a snob but I never buy second hand anything be it LV or otherwise. I love that people do though as it's great for the environment. It's just personally not for me. I only ever would if it was a hard to get item and was in new, or close to new, condition

Oh, I'm so thrilled! I just received my pre-owned Honfleur clutch. I use LV bags every day and yet I found myself wondering what I would carry to a fancy wedding later this month and wished I had a black LV clutch. On a whim, I looked at Yoogi's Closet and there it was! Just listed, great price and lovely condition. I love the option of a little strap, too, but the best part for me is the four card slots and roomy interior. I'm done with those tiny evening bags with my license and credit card floating around freestyle and barely any room for essentials, including keys. With the strap, I can use this beyond fancy occasions for sure! This is my third Yoogi's purchase ..every transaction has been a fabulous experience. So, I'm a fan of the pre-owned route.View attachment 4538731 View attachment 4538732 View attachment 4538733
I love Epi Leather! Beautiful find! So elegant!

I personally have only bought preloved when the item I have wanted is discontinued.

I bought this stunning LV Multicolore Alma for only $400USD on eBay after having it authenticated on tPF's LV authentication page as well as by Real Authentication. I also used Yoogis Closet's helpful authentication page to make sure that the colouring matched the authentic print.

I did ask the seller for a large number of photos of the bag in both natural and unnatural lighting before offering below asking price (if you don't ask, you don't know!)

Once received I matched up water spots on the vachetta and had another 2 Authentications completed on the bag - one with Authenticate4u and ProAuthenticators.

Sorry if that is a lot of information- I remember when this bag was first around the fakes were dreadful but I wanted to be extra sure!

I think I love you. :biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:
Hell no. I’d buy a dead person’s bag if the price was right ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
* high five *
:biggrin: Seriously, I didn't think something like that would be a thing.But different views make the world (and tpf) interesting :smile:
Different Cultural Upbringings!
I'll let a friend borrow a bag, but never clothes or shoes. I'll buy a pre-owned bag but NEVER shoes or clothes.
I DONT ever put my bag on the floor.
I DONT ever let anyone except my stylist, hubby and kids touch my hair/head.

I’ve never bought pre-loved. I know myself and every little mark that I didn’t make would be a source of dissatisfaction to me. I would regret purchasing and end up getting rid of it and buying new.

If I missed a bag then so be it; there will be another soon enough that I like. I’m not a collector and rarely mourn over LE editions of anything.

4FC392B8-5C8F-4DF4-80FA-5B9E337E1018.jpeg Is it still true that LV will replace zipper pulls free of charge? I bought a vintage Pochette Accessoires and the zipper hardware is chipped in some areas, which I heard is pretty common. I haven’t been in an LV store in years, so I don’t want to walk in misinformed...

I agree, depends on your wallet... Personally, as many other members have said, I only buy pre-loved if it's a discontinued color/item that I reallyyyyy want. I think I have maybe 3 pre-loved bags in my current collection (and I have over 50 bags right now. Haven't counted recently).

Typically, I prefer always to buy new. The experience is always fun, but once you start regularly buying w/ a specific SA, you can sometimes get perks. Which is awesome if you love a particular brand. I have a few SA's that text me with upcoming sales (this is basically just my Saint Laurent SA's as Chanel & LV don't do sales). My SA's will also hold pieces for me if it's hard to get your hands on. When it comes in, they'll put it on hold for me before even calling to ask if I want it. I also get little gifts from the companies sometimes. Any defects or issues, I always get repaired gratis. I once got a Chanel bag replaced longgggg after the return window b/c I didn't like the size my BF had gotten me. The list can go on....

I prefer new, at the boutique experience. But again, if you're buying on a budget, pre-loved might be better suited for you - as you get a savings, and just none of the "perks"

They used to, no questions asked... I think they may have changed the policy now to where they have to confirm you purchased from the boutique - they'll look up your sales receipt in their system... I'm not 100% positive on this, but from what I've read in other forums I think I read someone saying this... Call and ask before you go in;)

I have purchased both preowned and new. Some of the preowned were so I could try them out. Others were discontinued. Two items that were at great prices I had repaired. Once they come back from LV they are like new complete with drawstring dust bags! Usually for my birthday I buy new since it's an experience I share with my mom. It all depends on the item and my funds at the time.

Thank you! Will do. Maybe I’ll take my mom with me since she has purchased a few bags from the LV I’m planning to visit; might help my case. Lol.

I've only ever bought new from the store - I don't have lots of money to spare so I get something now and then that I really want. I'm not against second hand but it's harder when you live in middle of no where, can't inspect the items before hand etc, plus I'm worried about purchasing a fake.
