Buying an older piece, your feelings?

I don't mind buying used at all. The super light leather on my wapity case is bothering me, since it doesn't match with the darker leather on my speedy. But as far as I know (which isn't very much), I don't think you can find too many used Wapities for sale.

I love vintage pieces - pieces from the 60's & 70's. I bought a vintage piece earlier this year and  it so much. It is from the late 60's.

I bought a "newer" older piece this year too and I love it just as much as my new bags althought it wasn't a bag with vachetta. A little bit of patina doesn't bother me at all. I don't want too much but a little give it character.

Up until about a month ago all of my pieces were brand new from the boutique - I hated the idea of a used piece. Recently I traded my deauville, that I bought from the boutique, for a friends cabas piano. It felt like it was meant to be lol, because the cabas date code was SD0505 and that's also the date code of my Speedy 30. I was hesitant about doing the trade, but the bag is like new - with the same light patina as my speedy - so I could darken it more to my liking. There were no water stains, etc - the bottom was in pristine condition - so I went with it. At first I thought I wouldn't like it simply because I hadn't purchased it directly from the boutique - but so far so good. Though, I can't guarantee I won't sell it and buy a new one from the store just yet ;)

I have both. Some things you can't get new because they are discontinued. I have a large epi noe in gold/fawn. It was older but really in perfect condition. I have a pre owned cabas piano and I was disappointed in it because of the mothball smell. I love getting new things because the patina is all mine and only mine. :) I have a batignolles vertical and a baggy pm I bought new. Oh, and I understand about used Keepalls. I have a 50 and got a fantastic deal on it. It had a few little nicks but otherwise was flawless. I don't feel overly careful about it and can enjoy it more when I travel. For durability you can't beat a batignolles and used keepall for traveling.

I absolutely LOVE vintage pieces simply because IMO they were better quality (or at least they look that way).

I purchased this gem from eBay

and I can't BELIEVE the quality! I wonder why LV stopped making wallets with more leather? You can't get a mono wallet now with leather on the outside.

I purchased my bags new but any time I have the opportunity to get a get quality, well kept vintage piece I jump on it.

I bought a used Speedy 30 from someone on the board. It has a nice brown patina and I love it soo much!! Have not used my new 25 ever since!!

Get a used Alma.. I think you'd luv it!! Plus you wouldn't obsess as much abt the vachetta bottom!
