Good evening all! I’m purchasing a new Rolex watch. I need advice. I’m trying to decide if I should go plain (fluted bezel, jubilee band, Roman numerals) or something fancier (oyster band, diamond bezel, diamond dial)? Please help!

"Plain" is Oyster band, not the Jubilee, traditionally. Oyster is considered sportier. Fluted is also not "plain," it's more decorative than the smooth bezel. That said, Romans and fluted and Jubilee is my dream watch, which I own and find a perennial classic.

Have you gone in in person to try on your wrist? It's essential. There's also mother of pearl, which can be beautiful as a dial. I myself like MOP more than diamonds on Rolex. Blingy is kind of nauseating on a Rolex, which is aesthetically disciplined and sensible in its DNA.

What watches do you already own, and why do you want to buy a new one?
I have a Rolex, a couple fun colored Michael Kors, two stainless steel apple watches (gold, silver), and a Movado. Our anniversary is coming up and I want to purchase matching Rolex’s for my husband and I.

if you want match8mg watches for your DH and yourself, I vote oyster, oversized, and no diamonds. Stainless. Iconic
my DH sometimes wears a Rolex stainless GMT coke model which I got him when they were a third the price years ago. I don’t think my DH would wear diamond bezel Rolex; it’s something my MIL and GM wore (both with a jubilee band). JMO though.

A women’s two tone jubilee was my first luxury watch that wasn’t a hand me down (it was popular when I was in HS) so I perpetually associate the jubilee with a certain decade

But, of course, I agree with @snibor; you should gi with whatever makes your heart sing!

Agree with both @880 and @jellyv above!

#1 seems more refined, classic and elegant. The bezel + jubilee band gives the watch the right amount of bling without being too much in my humble opinion. The fancy one is not my style as it seems just a little too fancy (though still beautiful). Then again, you have to look at the watch every day so go with the one that you love!

I’m going against the grain here. Diamonds all the way. It makes it really special. I always say if given the choice of diamonds or no diamonds, I choose diamonds. But I think you have to go with what makes your heart sing. You should be 100% certain you love it and no doubts.
Lord knows I love me some bling! My hubby told me if I go with the plain one he’ll buy me a diamond bezel if it’s too plain for me.

I agree, but to me the refined, classic, and elegant one is plain. I tried on a similar one and I love it, but I do not want to have a case of buyer’s remorse.

By matching I just mean maybe the same band, dial color etc. they don’t have to be the exact same watch.

Everyone is different, while your DH may prefer steel, my husband is all about the bling. He has a 12 carat wedding band, large diamond studs, a huge diamond bezel watch that’s around 10 carats, and a 4 carat diamond cross. I’m the one that’s a bit more plain, he had to talk me into a 2.16 solitaire and he happily would’ve gone larger. He is constantly trying to make me match his level but I am a simple girl.
