Buyer open paypal dispute for NON REFUNDABLE deposit???

THANK YOU uab*mom and you made it the point loud and clear for both buyer and seller

First of all, CONGRATULATIONS OP
You get to keep the deposit, as I feel you should.

Secondly, I have been reading this thread but trying to keep my opinions to myself, but.......... if I am reading this right :

The buyer suggested putting the bag on hold with a deposit, which the OP agreed to do
Then when things didn't go her (the buyer's) way, she evidently suggested that only an "idiot" would agree to paying a non-refundable deposit, (what, did OP "make" her pay it?), threatened to "report to the auction sites", and threatened to "post it all over tpf".....(hellooooooo, where are you???)

Then buyer opened a claim.

I have to say, I am as much, if not more, of a softie as anyone else here, but that would have totally killed it for me.

I only have one more comment regarding lack of communication:

it is just beyond my realm of understanding how ANYONE in these times can be so "difficult" to reach ~ internet is EVERYWHERE ~ ppl have Blackberries, iphones, internet access everywhere you go, how is it even within the realm of believability that you are "not receiving" multiple messages...... oh, yeah, you only receive them when you are interested in buying and paying a deposit, but not the ones asking you "purchase the item and close the deal" ~ oh, yeah, I forgot, too upset over dh losing his job (awhile ago?)

And that leads to the real issue, which I feel is what really happened here.
OP had stated that if the person had been honest, humble and communicative, she would have probably gone ahead and refunded the $$$ anyway, and I for one, believe her.

sorry, just venting I won't do it again for awhile

It hilarious that she says it was a refundable deposit (um, what would be the the point of a deposit?), but never even bothered to ask you for the refund. Opening a PayPal dispute means she clearly knew you would not give it back to her willingly. What an idiot, to use her word.

I'm so glad it all worked out.
Of course, I'm DYING to know who this "famous tPFer" is, too! :p

Guess this is also a lesson for anyone that just says they want to put down a deposit and have seller end their auction for them, and then changes their mind!! Hard lesson learned for the buyer who put the deposit down. Bet she won't do that again....

Yes, I would also love to know who this person is...can you pm her ID to me please?

And YAY! You won the claim! I'm surprised that she isn't trying to recourse by saying that now you have to go along with the original plan and sell it to her now haha!

Wow, I didn't realize that a seller ever got Paypal on their side...I am glad it worked out for you and sorry it was such a gut wrenching deal and major time zapper...

I've got screwed up by a PowerSeller on ebay. I have paid $1100 for a layaway ussing "SEND MONEY" botton. The seller told me: "say goodbye to $1100" after the dispute of a misrepresented item. PayPal and ebay did nothing to protect me. I am so cured of "ebay fever"...DON'T NEED THEM!!!

And you DID report this to EBAY via the EBAY Resolution Center? http://resolutioncenter.ebay.com/

Please post the seller's EBAY ID here and maybe we can come up w/ some ideas....

I was wondering how you guys think in who's favour this would work out in this example: I put down a deposit via Paypal because I want to buy the bag in a month (that way my parents can pick it up from NYC, I'm in Europe). What if she never sends the bag? Does Paypal give me back the deposit?

You've bumped an 8-year old thread. I recommend you start your own thread.
