Buy/sell in Facebook groups?

TPF may earn a commission from merchant affiliate
links, including eBay, Amazon, and others

Now facebook provide buy and sell function on Group.
But, still it is not safe trade there? If you pick up the item directly from the seller, that would be ok I guess. But, send money and deliver the item is still risky. I think.

Sorry, I haven't.....Do you sell something on Ebay?

I sometimes sell bags and such on ebay- nothing listed today but now I'll have to get my rear in gear and clean out my closet! I was just debating trying out Threadflip as their seller costs seem more reasonable. Also I must confess that I 'buy' more often than I sell....

Most groups use Paypal for their transactions, I'm finding out. Unless of course, it's local.

I've bought and sold on some FB Coach groups and as long as you use Paypal it's pretty safe.

There's a few Coach groups and also some "pages". The smaller ones tend to be better. Coach Collectors Resale is a good one as well as Coach Resale or Trade. You just have to do a FB search for your specific keywords.

Thanks! I'll check them out. :smile1:

The groups I'm in for the most part require you to use Paypal even for trading, so that you can file a claim, just as you would if you bought on Ebay. Even with the few who don't require it, I require it. :)

I would stay very far away from the groups if you are trying to trade/sell/buy any type of bag that is easily counterfeited. Spend the little extra at a reputable consignment shop and consider it insurance to keep you from getting scammed in a very expensive mistake.

That's always a concern, of course. But I have to say that the women who run these groups (at least the ones I'm in) are VERY contentious. They despise fakes and work hard to keep things legit.
