Buy it cause it's rare even if you don't love it?

OK so here is a question for all of you. I have come across a really unusual bag for sale and even though it's a tricolor and therefore pretty rare, I don't really care for the colors. Well, I like one of the colors, the other two are not my favorites. It's actually kind of loud for me (though I can see how it would totally rock on someone else).

That being said, it's offered at a good price, and I'm not likely to see another one ever...but of course I can't decide if that's a good thing or a bad thing. LOL!

So I guess the question is...do you buy something that's rare even if you don't love it, just because it's so unusual and a collectors piece? It's priced quite reasonably for a special order tricolor bag, in my opinion, and the condition is very very good.

I would definitely be very curious about the appeal factor, and would surely want to understand the hype etc. I would be weak and would consider it. I won't dismiss it but most of the time, I would come away not getting it. It's too much money wasted to buy a bag that I am not passionate about. It has to go DING DING DING.

I won't buy something that would very likely land up as a regret purchase. I don't like the reselling process. So much work and follow up involved. So I personally will not touch it even if it's a rare piece. :supacool:

That is so true...and being stuck with this particular one might have actually induced nightmares. LOL!!! I mean NO offense if the owner of the bag is here, but it just wasn definitely not for me. I'm glad I slept on it.

Even if I end up selling a bag quickly, I really have realized that I should *love* it because I kind of feel that if I don't love it, I can't sell it well. I learned this in the 1990s selling multimillion dollar software packages and it holds true today.

I actually just got rid of an item that was very rare. I kept telling myself that I enjoyed having it for the sake of being a collector's item. At the end of the day, it wasn't really serving it's purpose, nor was I getting enjoyment out of having it. I don't regret selling it. So, to answer your question, I wouldn't buy an item that I wasn't totally head over heals with, in love. Good luck!!!!!

This is EXACTLY what I was going to say!
