Thanks! I like the double because of structure. Which is also why I’m partial to a newer jumbo. I’ve bought two fakes by accident already and so paranoid now. I’m almost thinking to just buy from boutique as I doubt I would sell the bag. I see other Chanel’s that are more casual but it just seems wrong to go grocery shopping with something over $2k!
I think the price increase is exactly why I’m thinking to buy now. We just sold our house and finally have a bit of cash. But not enough to go nuts!
I feel for used a difference of 1000$ is very little.But $7600 for the back seems obscene.

Do you pay sales tax if you buy from second hand? if you don't need to pay tax then it will be more than $1,000 difference, if condition is same or similar, $5,000 V.S $6,000 plus $500 tax that will be huge difference, if you pay tax, then $5,000 V.S $6,000 seems still a huge difference to me. If you worried about not getting the exact the same thing not the cost so much then absolutely should buy from the store.

Hi guys! Here’s my real question- considering $6500 for preloved and $7500 for brand new- which would u get?
I’ve looked at the coco handle but I know I can’t stand stiff top handles on bags that I wear. Also the medium would be great but I need it cross body which takes out so many options in Chanel.
I did think of the woc and the mini. I think if there was a cross body similar size with the Gucci Marmont I’d be happy. But there doesn’t seem to be. The mini is just a tad small and I have a iPhone plus.

I live in the Bay Area so I know what you mean about it being casual here. For that, I do have a hard time trying to wear my classic flaps out but I don’t have to worry about seeing many around when I do. I wear my Hermès bags everyday now because, like you said, are more casual and I don’t worry about quality issues as much.

When I purchased my first jumbo years ago at the boutique, I thought I was crazy paying $6k for a bag that was almost as much as my motorcycle and my bike takes me from A to B - but not a bag! However, with all the price increases since then, I don’t regret buying any of my classic flaps brand new. Also, if this is your first Chanel, I say to get it in person. Some SAs make the experience more memorable and you’ll also have a piece of mind regarding authenticity, which is sometimes worth the extra money.

I agree with the others about buying what you want because you’ll spend more buying a different bag, regretting it, and purchasing what you truly love after (which has happened to me).

If you’re concerned about weight and will only take it out during the weekends, have you considered getting the jumbo in lamb? My Chanels are caviar but I wish I got my larger classic flaps in lamb to offset the weight.

I would suggest going to the SF Chanel boutique. I live in South Bay and that’s where I went for my first Chanel bag.

So now I’m wondering if it’s just the hype that I want the jumbo double. I’m on the larger size (16) and about 5’5” so cross body is important to me. I think the jumbo is the only one that could fit.

I love my Gucci Marmont small camera bag and am debating just getting that in a larger size preloved But that could be money towards a Chanel lambskin jumbo preloved. I’m very confused.

I don’t see myself spending $7kand have a hard time swallowing$6k too. A Hermes evelyne is less than that brand new and I could probably push to a Kelly or birkin after a few years.

I’m not seeing the post of someone who is obsessed with a jumbo, if you think it might be the hype; or a larger marmo would work; or, you are Already thinking of an Evelyne or kelly or birkin. FYI, Right now, some Kelly’s (in 32 and up at Fashionphile and elsewhere and some Japanese reseller birkins (30 and 35j are the same price point as a Chanel jumbo.

it’s helpful to try in the boutique before you buy, but I also find it convenient to order from Fashionphile bc of the ease of return in case I am not sure. For a recommended Japanese reseller, budget for customs, state sales tax and possibly professional refurbishment. IMO, the reissue and the boy ar more casual an sometimes better priced.

there should be size comparison threads and I agree with a prior post that recommended Yoogis closet for well priced Chanel. Good luck and enjoy the process!

U guys have been amazing! I actually went to nm here didn’t realise they were still open!! The jumbo was ok. The gold is so brassy. And I looked quite frumpy with the Chanel. I was so drawn however to the so black Gabrielle and 226. If there was a jumbo I’d go for that.

I’m going to look out for a so black. Why r Japanese resellers so cheap? I did end up buying another Marmont because it’s so versatile but I think I am going to look for a nice lambskin Chanel or so black option.

I find the service at NMPA better than NMSF. My SA's at NMSF left and I can't find one that has genuine service.

I bought one on eBay. One on Tradesy! Found out because sold to Fashionphile and had second authenticated by lollipuff. Both over $5000 when I bought even had receipt !
