I know what you mean OP-I go through leather boots pretty quickly here because of the rain.
If you're going to be in Seattle/Vancouver, do NOT get Uggs. They're useless-I wear leather boots and although they get beat up, they last better than Uggs. Actually, my leather boots last quite well, it's more that the toes get worn out and then water leaks in. But I've had a pair of round toe leather boots for years and they've help up amazingly well to the Vancouver weather.
The problem is that, like the US, Canadian winter is not equal. Vancouver is a lot of rain and very little snow, Edmonton is bitterly cold with temperatures as low as -30 or -40C. Toronto is kind of in between. So the Burberry boots would be great in Vancouver and possibly OK in Toronto with thick socks, but they're not enough for Edmonton.
