thank you for your kind words my dear  :flowers:
Lilach, in your opinion, (which I hold very dear because you have so much experience with jewelry and fab. taste, ) who makes the best pave' platinum or white gold diamond ring at the best value. I probably can't afford Haute J. in graff or Van Cleef, but I want it to be very special. Cartier?
Considering this as a replacement wedding ring to wear with or W/o my solataire.
I tried one at Tiffany and, because it was an eternity style, it wasn't comfortable on my hand. On the Cartier piece, the diamonds only went 3/4 of the way around - much better.

for pavè i strongly believe in cartier as the do have a very very fine setting tecnique meaning the diamonds are close to one another giving a wonderful effect. but of course you can also go to a known local jeweller and get a ring made up to your wishes etc sometimes (given it is a jeweler who has a goood reputation) you can come out with a truly personal design and also a perfect ring workmanship wise.
but one thing more about cartier that i love is that they use very often platinum and i think cartier is reasonable priced taken into account that they are keeping their value somewhat :flowers:
oh and even though i love haute joaillerie the majority of my collection is "pret a porter" jewelery due to more than one reason
-the price i do believe in spending more when the design is outstanding the stones very rare the overall effect WOW but for "simply" daytime jewelery i dot believe in their prices as seriously i have seen one of a kind HJ rings (pavè) at cartier in platinum and white diamonds and just because it was one of a kind (but not over the top special design) the wanted 10 tims the aountof their regual collection pieces even though the regular piece was more spectacular hence but not one of a kind etc.
then HJ is not for everyday it is just OTT so i safe that for spesial occasions
i could go on and on but really you can´t go wrong with cartier bvlgari tiffanys etc. they have very high standarts but also keep an eye open for local jewellers :flowers:

I'm going to be completely corrupted if I keep reading lilach's posts! She makes HJ seem so necessary even if she talks about it being for special occasions. After all, everyone wants more special occasions!

My "everyone should have" list:

Pearl studs + strand
Diamond studs
Diamond solitaire pendant
Chain necklace (you pick the metal)
A few sizes of hoops, again in your favorite metal

My current personal wish list:

Cartier tank watch
Diamond chandelier earrings for special occasions
Pearl bracelet (Not much of a bracelet girl, but really wanting a pearl one that will fit just so around my wrist).

Lots of gals automatically reply "Diamond Stud Earrings," but think twice about that. I bought a lovely pair of Tiffany diamond studs about five years ago, but I found I rarely wore them. Seems I'm not much of stud earring girl--I prefer hoops, drops, dangles, dainty chandeliers. I've got a pair of David Yurman "crossover" diamond hoop earrings, for instance, that I wear all the time. So I ended up selling the diamond studs; no regrets. My point is: Keep in mind your own personal style; don't just go by somebody else's checklist. :p
true, true -- the opposite for me. i have some (small) diamond hoops that i thought i should buy because they are classic -- they just sit there. i get plenty of use out of my studs.

Let's see, for my complete jewelry collection, I prefer to have a variety and options to wear both yellow and white gold.

Pearl necklace and earrings
Gold-tone, two-tone, and silver tone watches
Wedding bands in gold, two-tone and white gold
Engagement ring/band set
Everyday bracelet, silver or two-tone
Evening bracelet
Unique conversation piece item (for me it's drusy)
Right hand ring
Cocktail ring
Necklaces in yellow and white gold
Various earrings in gold-tone and silver tone, dangling and studs

I wouldn't spend my money on diamond earrings. Swarovski crystals are just as beautiful to me, and if I accidentally lose one, I won't have a panic attack.
