That is not a pretty radiant at all! At least not in my view. But I am impressed they sold such a large stone.
i also think the picture is at an odd angle. it actually seems like a nice stone but photos of stones--particularly fancy cuts-- are always hard. Radiants are not my preference. they are bastardizations of other cuts. faceting hides many ills. they are a less expensive way to save rough (inflate carat weight) mask color and clarity issues. princess cuts are worse in my opinion.....

My issue with it is definitely in the cut. I just don't understand why it wasn't cut better. If you have a rough diamond that you can get a 7 carat out of, wih decent specs, why would you cut it like that? I don't get it. Unless this is how a radiant should look and i've been misguided. Lol.

I agree with this 100%! I sooo don't understand why all stones aren't perfectly cut (or close to it). How much carat loss can 3-5 degree angle differences really make? And Symmetry and Polish?! Why not cut them with perfect symmetry and polish superbly?? It costs you nothing (except maybe higher tech equipment, which would be worth the investment anyway). Cut is the one thing that diamond people can control and yet they allow their goods to be devalued by doing a half-cooked job. I just don't get it.

Wow! I didn't know you could browse recently purchased e-rings on Blue Nile, good to know if I'm bored sometime. :p The first thing that came to mind for me too, was why buy a $95k diamond and only a $425 setting... but yeah, I would hope & assume that there is another more expensive setting waiting for that diamond somewhere.

I couldn't imagine wearing a 7 carat diamond around myself, I have small hands so even my "normal" sized diamond people always think is bigger than it actually is... I couldn't imagine one 7 times the size! It would swallow my finger whole! LOL!

Probably cause people don't know or don't care to know because theyd rather have the carat size over quality. That way a poorly cut larger stone is more affordable and can cater to those customers. Then the well cut ones are the customers who are willing to pay the premium for the cut and don't mind the loss of rough. Even if an angle change would only take away .05 carats that could be the difference between .95 or 1 carat. Some people would sacrifice the cut to be able to say that have a full carat... Regardless if the .95 stone is the better performer.
