I kind of like the idea of that single stone version so much. I really want the scattered stone version but I just know Ill never wear the things.

I went over there today after work to see my casting and sort the stones that I wanted in the new band. I forgot to sharpie the "don't use" stones before I went, so we sat there with an IS, ASET and H&AViewer going little melee by little melee. They're SOO little out of the mounting!

I can't wait to see it when it's all done.

Well...looks like it's going back. I just had an uneasy feeling about how much smaller it looked than I remembered, so I went to Tiffany's today to compare (and check out a gold key..hehehe). Turns out it was smaller than Tiffany's .12 ct DBTY. It was actually closer to the .08. I took a picture while I was there with my BGD and Tiffany's 0.12ct :

As you can see, my WG diamond is smaller than the YG Tiffany's .12. Mine is supposed to be 0.16. I also tried on the .14 and it was much much larger than mine.
I emailed, and then called BGD, and they were very courteous and emailed me out a return fedex label right away for overnight delivery back to them. They said they would check it on Monday and get back to me. I'm hoping it was a simple mix-up and it will be remedied quickly with a proper sized diamond.

Hm. The diamond does look much bigger. Was the Tiffany diamond more flat whereas the BGD diamond more pointed (I don't know the terminology for this) so the weight of the diamond was more at the end? That's weird how the company would mix it up the diamonds and gave you a smaller one.

Random news - I tried on the david yurman version of the DBTY and the diamonds looked very dull and didn't sparkle at all. I'm anxious to see what the outcome is here because I've been seriously considering a BGD DBTY necklace!

Nope, I checked from all angles. The Tiffany's .14 was ust a much larger stone from every angle..and mine was supposed to bigger yet. I will be sure to update on Monday.

First I have to say that everything looks lovely on you! And it is very kind and helpful of you to post these pics in this thread and in the other threads on this topic. I enjoy looking each time it pops up! LOL! And I do hope you get your issue resolved soon. I am looking forward to new pics...lol!

I have two questions if you might know the answers. Do you happen to know if the chain is the same thickness at Tiffany on all the DBTY solitaires? I really like the way the .12 looks, as I want to layer and just always leave the DBTY on. I'm just wondering if you go a little bit larger in size if it makes any difference in the thickness of the chain. I'm just scared that a very fine chain will easily break. Although I've seen others post that they have left theirs on for years with no problems. I think leaving it on you reduce the risk of breaking the clasp. Oh, and while we're at it, is it a ring closure or lobster claw? What about the BGD? And how does the chain of the BGD compare to the Tiffany one? Which do you like better?

Next. What is the length of the chain the key is on? I'm guessing 18"? Just checking for layering purposes as that looks perfect to me.

Oops. I guess that's more than two questions!

Thanks, and again good luck. I'm sure they will resolve everything to your liking. Good for you that you decided to double/triple check things!

ETA: Ok, LOL....I just answered some of my own questions as I decided to call the 800 #. They are very nice, BTW, as they should be!

The chain thickness is the same on all sizes. It is a ring closure...of course you know that. Maybe someone else is wondering though.

HI!
The chain stays the same no matter the size. Well I haven't seen any larger than the .19, but up to that point they are the same. The Brian Gavin chain was exactly the same as the tiffany's..I didn't notice any difference at all. It is a delicate chain, and I was a little worried too, but I'm just going to get it insured. We have a personal articles policy with State farm, and it only cost like $10 a year to insure it.
Both Tiffany's and BGD use a ring clasp. Tiffany's did seem a bit heavier, as were the little plates behind the ring clasp and where the ring clasp attaches to.

The Tiffany's key (and it is the smallest one) is on an 18" ball chain. I loved it so much..I don't own it, I just took pictures in the store with it on. i told the SA it was to show my husband, but really it was for reference for me regarding the size discrepancy of the BGD.

I like the .12 also. But the .14 has just a little bit of extra oomf with still being dainty and a good layering necklace. At BGD prices, that was originally what I was going to get, the .14. But I didn't want to have diamond shrinkage issues down the road, and I wanted to get something to pass on to my daughters when they are grown, so I went with the .16. Really it is a stunning necklace at any size.

I really hope my issue is resolved as well. If it is, I will post new photos when it arrives.

Thanks so much...you are so helpful! Yes, the key is beautiful (I hope you get it), and I did get that you were just trying it on. I did note that was the ball chain. Wondering how sturdy those are too.

I'm torn now between the diamond sizes also. The prices don't matter that much to me anywhere from .12 to even .27. I want it to be seen, but not seen, IYKWIM. I actually have a Tiffany store in my area....about 1/2 hour away, but time is too precious because I am my mother's fulltime caretaker. When I can get help and get away, it's simply to do the necessities like showering, grocery and drugstore. So looking at all these pictures is SO helpful, but then again, they might be a little misleading.
Maybe because the pictures are so closeup, the stones look so much bigger. It's kind of amazing to me how large the small carat sizes look.
LOL...it's not like I really go anywhere now for anyone to see it. I just love it for myself really. I just reread what you wrote again, and I think I will take your advice...go for the little extra oomf of the .14, while still being dainty.

Thanks again....you were really a great help!

These stones do look larger than what you would think a .12 would look like, but you are also right about how they look even larger in these close up neck photos. If I were you I would go with a .14 minimum. The .12 is very pretty, but pretty small if you are standing 6 feet away. I will be sure to post a picture of the .16 when I get it back if/when they fix this whole situation. Maybe that will help. And even though I HATE how I look in pictures, I'll post one with a little more distance with my face included to help you determine size.

I'm soooo relieved! Brian Gavin called me this evening after they got my necklace back. He apologized over and over. They have no idea where it went wrong, but it was in fact a 10pt stone. He doesn't know if the wrong size stone was grabbed or if the wrong necklace was shipped to me. He was sooo pleasant to deal with and I will have my new necklace to me in a week.
I am so excited!
