Oh, I purchase from Coach, Henri Bendel, Kate Spade, Tory Burch, and the premier brands, you name it; for years I thought knowing what to buy would avoid disappointment, but now I'm shocked to find Coach and LV not using solid brass, period. I was trying to avoid the darker hardware due to possible chipping, only to find that one's not safe for anything in the brands' cheapening of materials! It's ridiculous to charge these prices, then for customers to see chipping hardware, threads unraveling, and badly scuffed corners! Nothing luxurious at all in that image...
That is awful that they dont even have solid brass hardware anymore.

I'm surprised Coach brass hardware is chipping. Is this on 1941 bags as well? I've passed on the dark copper hardware due to the chipping issue, but thought the brass was safe.

Yes, it's on 1941 bags as well. Now the brass is not safe either; if you look on the website, instead of "old brass" now the vast majority of their hardware just says "brass". Most likely the indicator for their new coated metal. Members have seen chipping on their rogues, bandits, double swaggers, etc.

I did not realize this. I only have a small crossbody from the 1941 line.

I really like Fount Leather from Cleveland Ohio. These are my two from them. The quality is amazing and they have an interior pocket .
My heart just skipped a beat! You got the Fount Coventry bucket bag, too. I love the color. I have the same two bags you have and appreciate the quality and craftsmanship and that they are made by hand in the USA.

What colors are your bags. Would love to see a picture.
Sorry I missed this! I have a Petite Bellfield Tote in Hazelnut and HAD a Coventry Bucket in Hazelnut, too. It's a long story, but I'm replacing my old-style bucket bag (that had dog leash clasps) with a new Coventry bucket bag in Wolf. Yours is BEAUTIFUL! What color is it?

Lotuff Leather seems to take pride in their manufacturing, but I've never seen one in person so I can't say for sure.

I have to say my favorite quality bags are vintage Coach (the leather is beautiful and I recently received one that is about 60 years old and still kicking!), Hermes, and my pre-owned Lanvin Happy from the early 2010s. I've been really wanting to try out smaller brands but I keep getting distracted… :D

I really love the quality of Mark Cross bags (especially the Dorothy style)! The bags are lined in a beautiful red lambskin, and the hardware is gold plated. I bought one on a whim from Farfetch last year and was so pleasantly surprised by how well made and durable the leather seemed!
