Yes, I have downsized a lot. At its peak my collection was over a hundred items which is too many for me to figure out how to use. I have bought and sold hundreds of Balenciaga bags trying to make my collection beautiful and useful. Plus I've found my lifestyle bag-size needs have also changed over the years. Now - March 3, 2014:
Let's start with the style of handbag that made me fall in love with purses back in 2001! It was Balenciaga's First/Classique/Lariat motorcycle bag designed by Nicolas Ghesquière. Sized between small & medium with gorgeous proportions of overlay and hardware details, plus a longer shoulder strap between 24"-29". This style changed to a 18" strap in F/W '03...but I really like the longer strap, it's more laid back and cool looking...you can acheive the same effect using a City bag's strap for the 24" or a Part Time's strap for the 29" length. Did I mention the tassels and the leather that feels so soft you won't want to stop touching it?! These are my "First" or "Classique" or "Lariat" moto-bag babies:

Then there are more oldie Bals with flat brass hardware until F/W '02 when raised pewter hardware debuted, and of course leather that's of the highest quality; there's not enough of these hides for the levels of production the brand has reached. Back before 2003 the only store in America with Balenciaga bags was Barneys New York, then in 2003 Bal NY opened and I was a walk-in customer as you couldn't get bags over the phone...they were all sold out, or waiting for people to stop into the NYC 22nd ST boutique. Man, *C* .. amazing, and interesting story! I remember also walking into BNY and seeing this interesting "bag" that (at first) .. I thought "huh? = what's the deal?". I didn't buy it on the first day, but it percolated in my brain .. and I found myself thinkin'
and pondering about the bag .. something telling me that "this is iconic". :worthy: So, of course .. I went back .. and an "addiction/affliction" was born! I've tried many other brands/designers, but find myself .. returning, over & over .. to Balenciaga!

Could be! I know that it had just come into the store and that all the Sales Associates were talking about it because it had been such a hit with all the 'fashion people'.
That's why I just can't .. with this new AW "Le Dix" design; is he out of his mind??? It sure isn't ICONIC (more like ironic!).
I totally agree (not surprisingly). It really burns my butter that he's sort of trying to phase out N.G.'s classic bag. It's like trying to push back the classic chanel flap or LV duffle. Not going to happen and will only hurt their bottom line imo. Maybe I'm just blinded by my love for the classic moto design, but it's insulting to me that he's trying to push the style to the background. His bags just don't measure up - sorry.
