In comparing the Raisin 2002 piano with Raisin 2008 Kelly there is a noticeable difference.
2008 Raisin is highly shiny and very smooth in texture. This bag had picked up patina quickly about 1 yr after I acquired her so I am thinking the patina made a lot of difference to the "feel". The raisin Kelly is the only one amongst my box calf bags with an "oily" look.
It is also with this exercise here that I realized that both raisins are not exactly the same shade. '02 Raisin also has stitching of a different color (rose?).
Comparing 1973, 2002, 2008.
2008 raisin looks and feels "oilier" vs 1973 Marron which is very shiney but plushest.
Comparison between moyen (circa 1990s) and 2007 Toundra.
2007 is more Matt, feels more dry.
Lastly a comparison between 2007 toundra and 2008 raisin. The raisin is super shiny oily vs the more Matt, less smooth toundra.
I can only conclude my 2008 raisin is a bit of an exception as it's shine! feel and texture is very different from my other bags in years 2000+.
Jadeite, I can only see your box collection with mouth gaping open and inevitably drool soon after. Very informative but my oh my, what a treat to my old tired eyes!

Very interesting Jadeite! My 2012 Toundra is a bit darker than yours. Not sure if it's the lighting.
Definitely the lighting. It's darker really. The toundra colour is well captured in another pic I uploaded to the Hermes bags + shawl thread at the same time.

I'm guessing Hermes never made boxcalf bags on Orange? That would be quite an eye opener.
Jadeite, your collection is absolutely fantastic, such great colours (I love raisin sooooo much!) and what a range of styles and years. And that 1973 box is still so lovely and plush. Seeing these bags gives me even more confidence in my box bags and their longevity. I have been using the BBK a LOT and traveling with it and so far so good even after some time under airplane seats
