Bought the Legacy Hippie bag!

Bought and received the black leather Legacy Hippie bag. It is a nice size - smaller than the Ali. The strap is a little long (I am 5'9") and a little more casual looking than I usually like, however a nice purse and good functionality. Only problem was that I had the purse <1 week and the turn-lock broke off. The Coach store is sending me a replacement purse - they said that they have been having problems with the turnlocks . . . was wondering if anyone else has seen this problem?

Hi, H-Bomb!

I've been looking for specs on that bag ever since they first showed the picture on the website - love the style and especially love the longer strap since I usually wear my bags cross-body for work. Can you please tell me just how long the strap is, either end-to-end or at the center drop? And is the smaller front pocket large enough to hold two good-sized key rings?

It's good to hear that bag is actually available, and not just a figment of my imagination. I even made a point of asking the SA's at my Coach store if Coach was making any bags with extra-long straps other than the Swing Pacs, and they never even mentioned the Legacy Hippie. Thanks for the great information!

i just got mine in the mail this morning. I am going to return it for the ali. The strap is too long, even if i wear it across my shoulder. Wish i could just get a shorter strap, because i really like the size of the actual bag!!!!

here are some pretty terrible pics of me (just back from the gym) but some good pictures of the bag. I am only 5'2 and the strap is too long. here it is on....

I received mine, too, and I love it! The strap is a little longer than the average shoulder bag, but not so long it cannot be dealt with for me. After seeing this bag, the Ali would just be too big and its strap would be slightly too short for me. While the measurements don't seem terribly far apart on the Ali and the Hippie, there is a clear difference in size.

Hyacinth: the front pocket would easily fit two good-sized key rings, I think. I cannot remember the listed length on the strap, but I want to say it was 42" - so it is pretty long. It is definitely a bag that sits at the hip. It is adjustable, so I will shorten mine up a bit, but it is as long as the swing pack straps, except it is a nice leather strap with a buckle instead of a sliding adjuster like the swing packs have.

I'll try to take pics later this afternoon!

Thanks, msflutter and HauteMama, for the information and the pictures. I think with the extra "padding" nature and my chocolate obsession have given me, it should hang just where I want it to. With winter coming, it'll be long enough to wear even over my coats and parkas, and the size looks perfect.

Woo-WOO !!! Time for a trip to the mall! :wlae:

Hyacinth: The style number I used to order was 10336, but I don't know if there is a different style number for the leather bag. That might make it easier for them to look up. I think it is available in black, whiskey and white leather and then the legacy fabric with the ebony trim and with the gold trim, I believe. And I thought they told me the strap was 42" long, but if I tighten the buckle on mine, it works great as a shoulder bag. I am used to carrying bags that fall at the hip instead of closer under the arm.

Thanks, HauteMama, the latest catalog actually has a listing for it in leather on page 17 - Style number is 10325. I didn't see any info in that catalog for the Signature version, but I like the leather. Most of my Coaches are older leather bags.
A 42-inch strap would probably usually have about a 19- or 20-inch drop, but the Hippie has that curved top so the drop is probably about 22 inches, just what I need.

Thanks for your help! :smile1:
