Botched spa by “Docride’s Luxury Again Inc.” destroyed my Hermes Ostrich bag. Think long and hard about non-H Spa work!

Sorry that you have not heard back from her. I've seen that there is a Lazarus Hermes thread, maybe you could post on there to see if Docride can suggest any way to save your beautiful bag.
+1000 with @Hermesfeu above. I am a long standing client of @docride and she is extremely realistic about what can and cannot be done with either H leather or exotic skin. She has done superb restoration on my shiny croc Hermes chaine d’ancre clutch. (I’ve had extensive work done at H boutique (strap and sanglier replacement, spa etc) and also with @docride).

 Now this is a worrying element, for any of us seeking repair advice.
Well, execution ≠ knowledge. Someone may, in fact, have excellent advice, but not have the technical skills to implement them.

I hope this post serves to caution against the recommendation of non-H craftspeople to others; regardless of how insightful or well-respected they may be in this community.

Docride also did an amazing job on my porosus black wallet which included stitching and reglazing to its original glory. I would ask her if she can help you.

Please, please, please. I’ve gotten some DMs and want to address something:

The moral of my story was not to go to Leather Surgeons! It’s a reminder to think long and hard about having non-H craftsperson work done on your precious items! Especially when the price difference in service isn’t that different! If an H craftsperson botches a repair (unlikely) well, then H will make things right for you.

Alternatively, my “guru” stopped responding to me, blocked me from accessing the albums of photo albums she took of my bags, etc.

I appreciate that you’re trying to help! However, once again, I leave my story and those abominable pictures with you all as a reminder to display caution in recommending non-H craftspeople to others; regardless of how insightful or well-respected they may be in this community.

Thank you! I agree. I could take up a dispute with my CC, but hate that it’s come to that. No response, no accountability? Hmm. You’re right. You don’t even have to read my story, the images speak loud and clear.

Unfortunately your "guru" has allowed it to come to this point. On principle alone I would
dispute the charge as a "picture is worth a thousand words"..
The guru needs to take responsibility whether she/he likes it or not & not communicating with
you is simply wrong on many levels

This is a tough lesson learned (to put it mildly). To everyone reading this, please understand how risky any repair is. I’ve seen complaints regarding most every repair place, including manufacturers themselves. I generally work on my own bags, mainly because I know how neurotically obsessive I’ll be and I know my limits (most of the time, but at least then I’m mad at myself).

@roy40, I’m so sorry this happened to your beautiful bag and that they aren’t providing any resolution. I will say, please be cautious if you have further repairs done to it. Check tPF for threads about whoever you go with for potential risks. Also, you may want to be sure to your disputes are resolved before proceeding with further repairs.

Wonderful advice! Thank you so much for the effort and time. From now on, only the H-spa touches my Hermes. Lesson learned the hard way!

So sorry that this happened to you. I'm always weary if someone other than H is saying they can fix this or that on an H bag. I'd also never buy a preloved H bag if only the corners were painted by a third party. Part of H's appeal is being able to repair/refresh an item again and again for decades to come.
LV will not take a repair/refurbishment job if another leather person has touched the bag. I assume H is the same way. That's the real risk of using an outsider: the manufacturer will never allow themselves to fix it up.
$600 sounds dirt cheap to refurbish any bag these days.
I didn't know that ostrich could stain.
If it were me I'd associate the bag with such bad karma that I'd sell it for, oh, I don't know, $8K maybe, and move on. Was the bag colored silver in the transformation? I like silver and from what I can see it looks nice compared with the stain-prone original.
Check your bag for the parts. I got a Coach bag restored (re-dyed) and while the color is good, the repair shop replaced the Coach clips with faux ones. I had the bag re-dyed b/c I used and liked it so much. I haven't used it since I noticed the clips were faux replacements, which is to say I haven't used it at all. I could have gone back to the shop but I'd waited a month or two to look closely at it. Plus I figured the owned wouldn't cop to taking the parts and it would just be a nasty experience. One day someone visiting Goodwill may find a Coach Willis bag looking great aside from the clips.

Thanks for passing on what you learned in this awful experience.

Hermes Spa won't touch bags if they have had any work done by an external refurbisher.
I would only go outside the Hermes spa if I wanted a bag's colour changing because they won't dye bags.
