Botched spa by “Docride’s Luxury Again Inc.” destroyed my Hermes Ostrich bag. Think long and hard about non-H Spa work!

You are 100% right. It is SUCH a relief to read your response and the others’. There was a lot of gaslighting in my phone calls with the “guru” — she legitimately tried flipping the script to make me out to be “too fussy,” etc.
Too fussy? Both bags look terrible. I am sorry to say because I know a lot of money and love went into them.

The new paint (or whatever it is that’s been used) is flaking off. I can see the original colour in the cracks, and the green stains on the interior are unforgivable. It’s unwearable. I’d feel I’d lost an old friend if this was my bag, because the original patina was beautiful. A professional restorer should be insured, and should refund the fee and make restitution for the damage.

I also want to add that there’s no consequences to this person for her inexcusable behavior. Sometimes you just need to apologize, acknowledge and move on. When she’s so stuck up and try to defend herself from doing terrible work and getting by, I think she needs some natural consequences. This is a tight knitted family. If she just apologizes and acknowledged that ostrich is not her specialty, at least I will trust her with my other bags. This person, 100% is untrustworthy no matter how good she is with leather goods in other ways.

You are much kinder than I would be in these circumstances. I feel like she almost brainwashed
you into thinking she could do a superb job which she failed at miserably.
Under these circumstances sharing your experience has been insightful & I would want to prevent
someone else from experiencing what you have on all levels.
If anyone of us pm'd you, would you be comfortable disclosing the name.

You’re absolutely right. Unfortunately, my six attempts to contact her have gone unanswered. I wanted to avoid litigation, but it’s inevitable at this point.
So sorry this happened to you and your beautiful briefcase, I hope she will do the right thing and at least refund you.
Thank you for your words. No response at all from her (I’ve contacted her 6 times through text and email). I know she’s alive and well because she remains active on one of her threads on TPF.

It’s one thing to entrust a non-H person with the gentlest of cleanings / conditioning, but my story stands a reminder of the dangers of going the non-H route ... the lack of attention to detail / negligence really is so shocking. I wouldn’t trust anyone with that much of a lack of attention to detail / rudeness and lack of accountability with a $15,000 bag. I’m just glad I got my bags back before the radio silence.

I complete agree! I know that mistakes happen and I know that sometimes people bite off more than they can chew. I gave her 6 (!) opportunities to take some responsibility ( ... any responsibility), to come clean, and to refund my fee so we could both move on (in my words “amiably”). Yet, here we are.

This is more than a mistake.. Mistakes happen everyday of the week... it's taking responsibility
& accountability which this "guru" clearly has not done & trying to fix the problem
Can you dispute the payment perhaps with your credit card if that is how your funded the repair)s)?
as the images speak loud & clear of the repair

I am so sorry that this happened to you. I absolutely hate it when people don't own up to their mistakes and try to make you out to be the one who doesn't get it. if this "guru" values their reputation, they need to do what's right and resolve the matter. You and your bags deserve better than this!

Thank you! I agree. I could take up a dispute with my CC, but hate that it’s come to that. No response, no accountability? Hmm. You’re right. You don’t even have to read my story, the images speak loud and clear.

Thank you so much for your words. I wholeheartedly agree. I fully admit that this is such a first-world problem, but hope that my pictures alone serve as a warning ...
