Hi
I bought a gorgeous pair of black men's leather boots in Hermes sale approx two weeks ago (wore them once for 30 mins!) and to my horror the insole (which is made of 2 halves rather than one piece) started peeling away on first wear. I took them (with box receipt etc) into Bond Street (not a first time customer, I have bought Kelly etc for g/f) to discreetly show the flaw to sales staff to repair/credit etc.
The sales person who saw them was very nice said all ok to repair etc until she said it would (a) be chargeable!!! and (b) Take 2 months to go to Paris etc for assessment. I absolutely refuse to pay for repair on something clearly a manufacturing fault, but she was resolute that it was a problem on a sale item that meant a charged repair - no refund/credit etc. I explained that she was not being helpful and that I wouldn't accept this quality on boots at £50 let alone at the Hermes price point. As I got nowhere with her, I asked her role, and unbelievably she was the head of customer service/relations at Bond Street - wow. I asked her very politely to bring me the store manager, so she vanished reluctantly to see the assistant manager, who was busy, but she came back humbly, saying no charge, and that they'd be sent to London workshop, not Paris, and this should (hopefully) take circa 10 days - watch this space. I am horrified at how awful the service was. I really fancied an Avalon blanket and new H belt, but going to let these slip now if that is representative of their after-sales
