My return rate was higher than I expected according to the figures they cited in the ban email but had I been issued a warning beforehand I would've monitored my order/return rate. I purchased a lot of work pants and jeans through NR online because of the larger selection, but they're also the hardest item for me to find fit-wise. Apparently they looked at my returns over the last three years, and in-store purchases/returns aren't factored into your overall return percentage.

I'm a bit shocked because once when I went to return something, a sales associate said I wasn't that bad because they've seen people return 30+ items at a time! Oh well. I'll keep my Nordstrom Visa so as not to hurt my credit score but I'll be avoiding NR and Nordstrom from now on. They don't make any money off of me anyways bc I always pay in full and on time.

Oh, and the CS rep said they might send me an "apology letter" for failing to warn me that I was returning too much. She also said she took notes on our conversation and that they may change their procedure in the future to issue warnings before deleting accounts. I'm pissed at how they've handling this more than I am at the fact that I'm banned.

More reason IMO to discuss this with someone in corporate

I agree that the full lifetime ban seems extreme to me and Nordstromrack.com is still a Nordstrom company. I get they’re losing money with such a high return rate and I understand their point on that but why don’t they just make it so when you return you have to pay some sort of restocking fee to cover shipping both ways. Or give you a warning beforehand. Or make it so you aren’t eligible for free shipping.

I Think That Before They Ban You, They Should Give Youa Warning Ahead of Time. They Obviously Have a Ceiling
of What is Acceptable Return Rate and What Isn't. If You're Approaching that Limit~Email The Customer and Warn Them.
Now, If that's Too Much of a Project For them(very well could be?) Then They Should List it On the Site and Also
Have The Return Rate Listed on the Customer Account so they Can Look it UP..

That is going to cost them money, which then each of us will have to pay when we buy things, just like the serial returners cost us all money, because they simply abuse it and cause costs.

Seriously the "Will be taking my money elsewhere" threats are ridiculous, if they would make them money they wouldn't have been banned, so cutting off somebody who just causes costs is the right thing to do. You're not taking your money elsewhere, you are are simply stopped from costing the company a lot of money.

Because some shops offer free returns, that is not a licence to blatantly abuse it, most of them give the measurements, the odd item not fitting and being returned, happens, but seriously 50 to 80%? Those aren't customers, I am really glad that they are having this policy now. Apart from postage, they need staff, restocking, etc. All because somebody has a return fetish?

I'm not banned from NR brick and mortar stores, nor Nordstrom online or in-store. So yes, I can choose to take my money elsewhere.

Given the fact that you will only return it, you are not really taking your money anywhere, so I am sure that Nordstrom is quite happy that you are only damaging the competition, until they ban you too.

In Canada, free shipping is not as prolific as it is for US shoppers. It definitely makes me think twice before I purchase something because if I need to return it, I might forfeit the shipping fees and perhaps the import taxes too. Shipping in Canada also isn't as cheap as in the US.

I would agree with others who suggest that losses associated with the cost of shipping motivate these bans. I guess there is an unstated expectation, on the part of the corporations, that shoppers will be judicious about the use of shipping since it costs the company money to get the product to you and back. If you abuse it, you lose it.

I recently read an article in the WSJ that said even Amazon is starting to ban customers who are costing them more money than they make from them. Many stores seem to be taking frequent returns more seriously lately, even L. L. Bean changed their return policy due to abuse.
Yep I've Read that Also.. More and More Retailers are Doing This. Thinking about The excuses of "I Have no idea How they'll fit on Me" Just not Valid Over and Over because at Some Point You Should Know how These Designers fit? Right? If You're Shopping LL Bean- You Know after that First Buy~ LL Bean Sells ONLY LL Bean Right? NR ~ Well that's Different.. There is More to Choose From True~ Take the Time to Look at Clothing Chart Sizes. Sometimes I Email also.. If You Think That's Too Much Bother For Whatever Your Reason i.e. Looking at a ton of diff designers or don't wanna be bothered or Takes too Much Time~~or That's just Crazy... Then Deal With Their New Policies ~ Deal With Consequences.. and Move On. They're Not Gonna Change for You Because As People here said - It won't be any Great Loss, It'll Be a Gain for Them Cuz They aren't Dealing with all the Returns.. They're Not Making Some Great Big Profit off You-They Consider you a Pain in the Bootay~ That's the Message They're Sending to Serial Returners. If You were of TRUE Value, They Would NEVER cut you off.. Never. And as I and others have Read~ More and More Retailers are Enforcing these Policies~ Keep that in mind or You'll Have to Start going Brick n Mortar Style..
