Birthday HAUL at the Dooney and Bourke outlet in Aurora, Illinois…

So after I got off work, I drove to the outlet. Everything was 40% off and had an extra 20% off for the Labor Day sale, which ends today…I was really looking forward to this store as I've never been to a dooney outlet. The store was tiny, but they had all the new pebble leather satchels that came in Toledo florentine back in the day ( domed satchel, medium mail satchel, stanwich hobo) they were VERY beautiful and large. ..
so when I first walk in the store, on the table in front of me, was ALL the Florentine. Sigh they had ivy green, stunning color, in ALL the satchel sizes, from nano to large. But I wanted a large navy Florentine satchel as my birthday bag. And I was greeted by the 3 S.A.s. I told them I was there for my birthday bag. I immediately ask for every navy satchel in the back, the one on the shelf was handled/ scratches. She brought out 2 and both had smooth backs and textured fronts. Sigh then I see the small domed satchel in ivy. LOVED it! But I got it in chestnut $129 I see the Florentine fold over crossbody in ivy $119. had to have it with matching deluxe mo Zip wallet. Im circling the store looking at EVERYTHING and the S.A brought out the SMOOTHEST FLORENTINE NAVY SATCHEL ALL IN FACTORY WRAP. GOD IS SOOOOOOOO GOOD.
I got a card holder in black, small striped carrington, and a double zip wristlet completing my birthday HAUL… they gave me my first duck. I love EVERYTHING in my haul

I went to coach to look at bag charms and the line was out the door to get in…

Thank you. I enjoyed my first trip to the outlet. That haul sent me to ban island… but I do have a Tilton coming from dooney as I await my flight to the island

Wow! What a fun day and a bountiful haul! I'm so happy your Florentine Birthday bag is in flawless condition. Of course I love your red double zip wristlet and Carrington wristlet! Your trip made me miss our monthly Aurora trips. It's a hit or miss at Dooney and I'm glad it was a big hit for you on your first trip. And you sound like you had so much fun. Now I'm really sad the Livermore Dooney is closed.
On our monthly trips to Aurora we'd get there just before the stores open and go to Coach first.(My BFF loves Coach.) By the time we left the store, and we weren't there that long, there would be a line to get inside. Then we would go to Dooney second because there was never a line.

Yeah, Coach is a store where you have to make a decision on buying an item or items before you leave the store. You can't shop around and think on it because even if you ask them to hold the item(s) for you, you still have to wait in line again to get inside. And the line gets longer during the day.

Wow. It was so crowded inside, the lines long, I was overwhelmed. I just wanted a bag charm for my birthday bag. They didn’t have many and I didn’t want what they had

Congratulations on your birthday haul. Glad you were able to find what you
wanted and also some great other treasures. Navy Florentine leather is beautiful
and so is Ivy. I'm sure you will adore using both of them, plus all the
other goodies.

yes Yes YES… It’s was great to be able to see, touch, try on, and most importantly smell all the leather. They had a Florentine Hattie in ecru on clearance. I tried her on and she slid right off my shoulder. I guess I have no shoulders. So as I was trying on the bags, I was really paying attention to where the bag fit under my arms, will i be able to wear it with my winter down coat? It will be cold and it will snow. The flap crossbody can be worn under my coat if need be. It was an awesome experience. Still waiting for my Tilton…. Icing on my birthday cake. Maybe when it comes I will open it on my birthday as my present to myself, because it is my unicorn.


oh LJ I absolutely love my birthday satchel in navy. Both sides of the straps are navy. It’s so smooth. The red zipper tape pops. It’s not as heavy as my large chestnut. Even tho it’s a little shorter than the older large satchels, I’m so in love with it. I think I have found purse peace. I can happily sit on ban island and sniff my Florentine leather.

Enjoy your treasures. I'm sure they will be good company on ban island.
And as you wear all your new Dooney items, you can learn which
styles and features work best for you.
Maybe you can vacation on ban island until after the holiday sales.

On a related note, sometimes a handbag needs to be filled (weighted)
before you can determine if it will sit on the shoulder properly.
And some handbag styles, with a wider base, like drawstrings,
work better when the bag is shifted towards the back, rather than
hanging straight down from the shoulder. Doesn't work for everyone,
but I've seen lots of people carry their shoulder bags that way.
Also, some people are always holding the strap with their hand or
squeezing the bag to their body with their elbow. I guess it becomes
a habit.

I’ll try that hold with my Buckley. It doesn’t come off my shoulder I guess because the strap is thinner. Well I hope not to notice the holiday sales, LOL. Maybe for SLGS and gifts for others only…
