^^^ Be very, very careful buying on eBay and make sure you get any item authenticated.

Don't be put off going into Hermes and asking about a Birkin as that's exactly what I did and had no problems getting onto the list

I agree. I'm too afraid of Ebay to ever hit the BUY IT NOW button.
I'm used to snotty SA by now, so if one intimidates me, I'll ask another. Their loss.
