Thank you!!Oh wow! Congrats on your upcoming addition to your family! I also finagled an H bag out of DH when we found out we were expecting.(Actually, I purchased for myself, but DH is a very good guardian of the bank account).

Thanks KC Lam! The last time I went to Shanghai was two years ago - I miss it and should make a trip there soon. So many places to go, but so little vacation time from workAmex Centurion will not get you the bags at any H stores around the world. I used them about 2 years ago to try to get a H store in HK to sell me a bag even at a premium, and it was refused.
uscgirly is right to point out that at $2500 annual fee for Centurion should offer a set of privileges, but not all of it, and buying a H bag isn't one of it too. That's one reason why DH canceled the card as it's not acceptable in most places in China, plus $2500 buys a lot more than the value of the Concierge services. We're on Unionpay now...haha.
If you have a Centurion, it's better to travel around the world and visit the H stores to find that elusive bag.
Shanghai's Plaza 66 Hermes store brought out 2 orange Birkins last Sunday when i visited their store (i was the one with the BB Drag bag), i assumed it was reserved for their loyal customers.
Happy hunting...
Thank you~I'll check there too!I agree that the Inventory thread is a great resource!
AMEX called him back and said they were able to find one in Europe through a broker but it came with a hefty premium! A little disappointed as this is the concierge for Centurion too~ would think they had more connections than that.
Yah, I'm disappointed : / Are there a lot of perks to joining Quintessentially?uscgirly, forget about Amex....they are hopeless sometime. In these day and age...use Quintessentially. They are really the best for sourcing merchendise...actually they are the best in everything at the moment. The only reason I am still with Amex is because of the discounts they offer if you spend money at their allocated partnerships like The Ritz, Harry Winston etc.
my hubby said that if we got the bag through AMEX all sales would be final! risky~Quite shocked that Amex would do something like that. If they want to offer this kind of service, it'd better be from the boutique not through a dealer. What happens if the reseller sends you a fake bag?
The only place where you can walk in and buy a birkin is Japan. They always have at least one birkin on the shelf.

I'm really considering it now... I've been noticing that Centurion doesn't have that much leverage. For instance, sometimes when we want to make last minute reservations at a busy restaurant, they've been unsuccessful! Thanks for sharing about Quin.YES THEY ARE!!!That is the exact question I was asking myself before I joined Quintessentially. Now, I actually think it is one of the best decision I've made.
If Amex have "No Returns" I personally will not buy it from them and pay that hefty premium. You're better off buying the bag from reputable reseller ofcourse, yourself.
Amex is a financial institution expanding their horizon to other department whereas Quintessentially is build to be a concierge institution. There is so many things I can say about this company. Let's just say, my life have been so much easier with them by my side. Holidays are more relaxing and anything out of the ordinary you want, they will provide. Sometime with a price ofcourse, but as one knows, any thing out of the ordinary always comes with a price.
Do you mind telling us what spec is the bag you are looking for?
I hope all goes well & you have a great time in Paris! ~ By any chance, is the NY restaurant you like Peter Luger?I agree, uscgirly, the concierge could definitely be better - for example, there is a particular restaurant in NYC that I like. Last minute reservations there, through concierge? (I almost always decide at mealtime where I'd like to go, never weeks in advance).
So, concierge has been unsuccessful on this front on several occasions. Which is too bad, since they have a dedicated person to work with that particular restaurant!
On the other hand, they have been helpful in hunting down obscure Hermes items (I don't have time to call stores myself, and this was for a reasonably small item) as well as a camera for my DH that has been sold out everywhere. They also did another favor for me for my upcoming trip to Paris (but we'll see how that pans out!).
