Good morning ladies, your thread was brought to my attention by a friend. I apologize for the lengthy dissertation below, it is long & in depth.
I am Danielle of Euro-Luxe. I would like to address everything mentioned in this thread & will continue to keep up with it, as long as needed. A brief history & background. We have been selling on Ebay since 2002, for the last 18 years & are now one of the most well known & respected haute clothing sellers. I would venture to say, probably one of the top 2, in the Chanel realm to be honest & the "go to" place for pre-owned Chanel jackets.
We have 100% positive feedback, which is very hard to attain in an 18 year time-frame. Many of our Chanel jackets have been taken to Chanel boutiques to get altered, over the years. Many of the lady collectors who purchase from us are tiny & have the armpit area altered directly at Chanel, especially ladies from Eurasian countries. We have a lot of repeat customers who buy from us, wear them & then consign to other luxury resellers.
We sell items we purchase to specifically flip for the business & we also sell items for many people. At least half the items listed at any given time, do not belong to us. We list them & only take 10% commission. All other luxury sellers on the internet charge significantly more commission. Those of you who sell your items on certain sites pay anywhere from 16% to 40% commission to these sites. However, we list for people & only take 10% commission, which helps us build feedback & repeat customers. I do it as a courtesy & have always enjoyed it.
However, I take responsibility for every item listed under my name. I have always been very kind, honest & honorable. Anyone who knows me will tell you, I am brutally honest & forthright. I do things with great care & precision on Ebay. I go above & beyond to create beautiful listings, have great communication with buyers, perfect packaging & give buyers an overall 5 star buying experience. I take listing items seriously & am a conscientious seller. I am a perfectionist by nature.
We are primarily a vintage dealer, 80% of the items we have listed at all times, are from much older collections (circa 80's & 90's). We specialize in vintage Chanel & I try my best to buy mostly that. I am a collector of vintage Chanel myself & love it much more then the newer pieces. The older classic pieces have great history, provenance & rarity. I find them more classy & collectible. I was heartbroken when Chanel stopped stamping the back of their buttons, many years back. I prefer the older Chanel jackets with the 18K or 24K gold plated Gripoix buttons that are stamped. They are magnificent.
Until the year 2016, we were listing mostly vintage haute couture, mostly Chanel. In the last few years I have started to buy pieces from the newer collections from different sources & also list for others the newer pieces. The problem now is, there are many "as you guys would call it" superfakes out there. I am finding that it is nearly impossible to tell, there is a fine line & ambiguity or haziness. They have literally been borderline perfected, so it makes it impossible to 100% tell.
I do as much due diligence as possible before I list any Chanel item. Here are some of the things I do, for example.
1. I try to find as many pictures off of social media of the actual item to compare all tags & labels. I try hard to find someone who bought the jacket from the boutique, to compare before I list. I look at numerous pictures everywhere before listing & check all details many times.
2. I call Chanel customer service & confirm model numbers, material codes & color codes are correct. I have even dealt with 2 different Chanel S.A.'s in the past & they were very helpful. They went above & beyond with info & pictures. Now sadly, they will no longer do that. They have gotten stricter.
3. I send pictures to 3 different Chanel collectors on a regular basis, who buy directly from boutiques, so they can tell me their thoughts on a particular piece. They have enough knowledge to authenticate after collecting for 15-20 years.
I do not use authenticator services now, because they are known to make mistakes. They often say fake items are real & real items are fake. There is a fast turn around in the authenticator realm & many are not well trained in all years/ eras or collections. They are at 1 job one day & are gone the next day, working somewhere else. I have heard numerous stories over the years about how authenticators have gotten it wrong. Even a famous & well known H authenticor got it wrong recently. You guys are familiar with that story.
Superfake items have also been passing through large, popular luxury re-sale websites & are authenticated. So when someone like me buys something & believes it is authentic & then tries to sell it, a problem can occur. There are a lot of items currently in circulation, that are questionable. I will be honest & say, I see questionable Chanel items listed on Ebay each day, by well known luxury resellers. I have seen questionable items from all the big, haute couture clothing sellers on Ebay. No one is immune honestly & many people simply are not aware & do not know they have purchased & listed a fake item.
I personally cut contact with certain vendors I purchased from a long time ago, I thought were selling both real & fake items at the same time. I thought they were mixing them in their inventory & just stopped cold turkey.
As for selling on Ebay, I personally do the listings on Ebay & sell my own items, items that belong to family members, friends, repeat customers, bloggers & even celebrity blogger. The items I personally purchase for the business & list are purchased from many sources. I spent over $150,000 last year on haute couture for the business & it is listed as "cost of goods purchased" on my 2019 tax return. I just saw my accountant this month & that info can be verified on my tax return.
I do not buy any items from China or any other Asian countries. That can be verified if necessary. I stay away from purchases from China, precisely because I know all the super fake items come out of there. There are some great vintage stores in China & Japan, I have seen over the years online. I have been tempted to buy some great vintage pieces like circa 1990's but, do not feel comfortable buying from China or Japan.
I buy items from other reseller websites (many that you are familiar with), from other Ebay sites internationally, vendors/ distributors that have actual stores in this country & oversees & from many repeat costumers.
I started selling on Ebay in 2002 personally family items. I am not new to the luxury scene, My mother & aunt have been spending an exorbitant amount of money on luxury items, mostly Chanel since the late 1970's. My aunt is still a VIP customer at Chanel in Monaco & I spent a lot of time in the boutiques growing up. I have an extensive background in haute couture from all designers & originally started listing on Ebay their personal items from designers such as: Chanel, Hermes, YSL, Dior, Escada,
Gucci, Pucci, Celine, Van Cleef & Arpels, Cartier, Lalique, Cristofle. The list is endless honestly.
I am not some luxury seller that just started to list luxury items yesterday, has no background or experience & is just throwing things up. I personally have an extensive amount of knowledge, experience & background. However, I am not God & am not perfect. I take full responsibility if someone says something is not authentic, as long as veracity is involved.
Most of you ladies go into the boutiques like clockwork to view each collection, each season. I am willing to work with one of you on a regular bases, if someone wants to help me. I am offering an idea in good faith below.
If one of you ladies wants to exchange info with me, I would be glad to send pictures of each Chanel item I am getting ready to list from now on, before I list it. That way, you guys who shop regularly in the & are borderline experts can take a look & give me feedback. I can send large, high quality images for one or more people to peruse. I am trying to be pro-active & hope someone will want to help out.
JiaoJiao, if you believe your 2015 Chanel jacket is not authentic, please contact me for a refund..I will take your word it is, as you say, not authentic.
We have one of the finest collections of pre-owned Chanel jackets on Ebay. I am the most proud of our vintage jackets listed. I will not have the good name & business I built for the last 18 year tarnished. I have been brutally honest & pro-active here.
My worry now is, one or more of our competitors or someone jealous will come out of the wood work to destroy us. I am also concerned that every single person who bought something from us in the last 18 years will be paranoid now, from a mini sweep of pandemonium. I put my heart, soul & endless creativity into Euro-Luxe on Ebay. I am heartbroken I even have to write this post. I am kind & believe in karma, I am just in life.
I can tell you that just about every Chanel dealer on Ebay will want to take us down. We have taken a lot of business from other dealers, because we rose slowly. This is not open season on Euro-Luxe.
In the last 18 years, I can count on 1 hand how many people contacted me & said.. hey Danielle I am not sure this item is authentic. Our track record is exceptional, so if people want to randomly bash us, so be it. Any libel or slander will ultimately end up in arbitration.
In closing, I want to apologize to Karena & Jiaojiao, if they believe they purchased something that is not authentic. Over an 18 year period, logically speaking, items will fall through the cracks with ALL resellers. That is just a fact.
I hope one of the most well versed Chanel RTW members here will contact me & offer to look at each Chanel item, before we list, as I mentioned above. I look forward to it.
Also.. I will gracefully respond to fair, meaningful & honest posts on this site. I will not respond to any dishonest, bogus, unfair or slanderous posts.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, ladies of PF. I know many of your are regulars & are quite active here. I am familiar.
Sincerely,
Danielle A
