I purchased a SS19 jacket from a woman who lives in NYC who I thought was trustworthy. She provided me with the original Saks receipt from the 5th Ave store. I had tried the jacket in the boutique, and had no doubt it was authentic. However, when I decided to consign it with The Real Real, they rejected it as "inferior quality." I thought they were just mistaken, so I sent it to another consignment. They provided me with a detailed side by side comparison with an authentic jacket, because the owner of consignment happened to own this jacket herself, which she had purchased at the boutique.
* Tweed is different. The authentic version has more details with iridescent parts.
* Material and quality of the satin bows are different
* Care tags - wrong fonts, also the copy jacket is missing a portion of material (6% cotton), so the list doesn't total 100%
* Chains are different - the copy is smaller and a different shade of gold
* Construction of jacket - squares don't line up and the hems don't end where they should be (full squares)
* Zippers and embellishment are nearly identical but there are slight difference in person, zipper of copy jacket is shinier and a different shade of gold
* Lining colour is brighter white on copy jacket
The woman Wenli Fei sells on eBay as "minimaldelux." Previously her eBay name was "feiwenli287453343." She has several Chanel items currently listed. She has a collaborator named Weu Qiang, It is disheartening that there are such close copies out there, and counterfeit traffickers like these two.
I have reported these people to Chanel fraud prevention department as well as the Saks the receipt was from, and they will be launching an investigation of these people. PayPal is also launching an internal investigation.
I'm posting this as a warning that despite being a frequent Chanel shopper very familiar with the brand, I was taken by these traffickers. Just because someone provides a receipt does not mean the jacket is authentic, sadly. I am devastated to think I have contributed to funding illegal activity. I'm only shopping at boutiques from here out.
